Mra Brain Without Contrast
What does "no frank aneurysm formation is appreciated." on mri/mra brain without/with contrast report means? What does above word "frank" mean?
If brain mr/mra with/without contrast detects 2 mm pca infundibula, can it also detect 2 to 3 mm brain arterial aneurysm if there is one in same study
It should.: If the study has enough fine (spatial) resolution to see the infundibulum then it should be able to see an aneurysm. Should is the key word. There are many reasons on MRI that something may or may not be seen and the arteriogram (angiogram) is the real final diagnostic study. ...Read more
Ive had an MRA 'TOF' without contrast dye of the brain done recently. Will this pick up and potential unruptured aneurysms?
I'm getting an mri, mra, and mrv of my brain with contrast. Can i wear my contacts during the scan?
Yes: There is usually a screening form that you will need to complete, it asks if you have metal or metal fragments within your body, have a cochlear implant, heart valve or aneurysm clip, or if you are claustraphobic. The form wants to provide information on objects that could be adversely affected by a strong magnet. ...Read more
Does a typical MRI and mra with contrast on the brain cover the entire head & neck area or does it just get the brain?
Probably just brain: Unless there was a question of carotid abnormality or some other symptom in the cervical region it is likely that your exam will cover the head only and only the uppermost portion of the cervical spine. ...Read more
Is mra with IV (gadolinium) contrast more accurate in detecting or ruling in or out brain aneurysm than just plain mra without any IV contrast or same
My MRI & MRA scan of brain w/contrast show several areas have very small, round, bright, lighter spots? Is this normal and what causes this? Thank You.
Radiologist: In these situations I feel the best practice is for your primary care physician or neurologist to review the images with the radiologist who interpreted the studies and then discuss their findings and suggestions for any further investigation or referral to other specialists with you. If you're still not satisfied with their explanation, bring the films to another radiologist for a second opinion ...Read more
In detecting or ruling in or out small 2 to 3 mm brain aneurysm, is a 10 minutes mra without any contrast and MRI accurate test? Is contrast needed?
Brain aneurysm: An mri/mra of the brain is an excellent screening test for the detection of even small (2-3 mm) brain aneurysms. Some neurosurgeons may recommend a ct angiogram of the brain or even a cerebral angiogram to be absolutely sure of the initial test results. Discuss the best option for you with a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Insurance athem does not want to pay for mri/mra with contrast to rule in or out brain aneurysm(s), only 15 minutes mra without/con. What shuld one do
Symptoms?: Often your symptoms dictate what insurances will cover. Usually they do not pay for screenings but if you have severe headache, blurred vision, dizziness, or any other neurological symptoms, insurance will pay. Your doctor may have to do a doctor to doctor review (peer to peer) and get the scan approved. Ask your md what codes he used initially to have the scan done. It is a game of life. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the best mri/mra test (model) to rule out brain aneurysm in men and is it done with (gadolinium) contrast?
Can a small brain aneurysm show on an MRI with contrast(iodine)? I didn't get an MRA and have been getting pain on left side I'm scared
Are multiple MRIs w/out contrast safe? I've had 4 in the past 11 months (ankle, brain mra, brain mri, and another ankle). I'm concerned about exposure
Does a normal brain MRI without contrast show blood vessel abnormalities or do you need another test like an MRA?
Depends on question: Common misconception: MRI (or MRA) doesn't "see everything". ANY imaging test used to help confirm a diagnosis has limitations & doesn't establish Dx from "thin air". MRI can see SOME of the effects of blood vessel abnormalities (like scarring or infarction) & perhaps large abnormalities like aneurysms, but isn't the best test to determine blood flow. So it depends on clinical question being asked ...Read more
Can a small brain aneurysm be seen on an MRI with contrast(iodine)?I didn't get an MRA but back then I didn't have headaches everyday.I'm 20& worried
Maybe Not: Even an MRA can miss a very small aneurysm. Here is the problem, with a headache patient, in an ideal world, it would be nice if we could get MRI/MRA studies on every patients. BUT insurance companies think different. If aneurysm is a worry, I often have to show that a regular MRI was "negative" before insurances will allow an MRA and STILL have to fill out gobs of paperwork to justify. ...Read more
