More info...: So far, your symptoms and labs could be due to acute bronchitis, possibly from a bacterial infection given the "segs". Persistent fever 9days+swollen lymph gland(right)+strep throat.Low risk HIV expo. 1 month back. Internist gave me Avelox, seems not to be working. HIV?
Unlikely: The enlarged lymph node is most likely related to the strep throat. I assume you were diagnosed with strep via a culture ( sometimes physicians just treat without a culture ). Probably viral URI: This WBC and differential are in essence normal (slight left-shift), but your history sounds more like a viral illness than anything else, and this can create symptoms compatible with sinus infections. Use OTC meds symptomatically, decongestants, and perhaps saline gargles or nasal irrigations. Good luck. ...Read more

31/F..high WBC, with high neutrophils and decrrased lymphs. Symptoms of sinus infection and possible strep throat. Temp of 95.5?
Sinus infection: Strept can give you a high white count and the change or shift in the type of cells to predominantly neutrophils is to be expected. The low temp could be secondary to the thermometer not functioning or did you drink something cool prior to the reading? At any rate take the antibiotics prescribed, consider doing saline washes up to 5 times a day, and I find motrin works better than tylenol (acetaminophen) pain. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
