A canker sore is a painful, open sore in the mouth. Canker sores are white or yellow and surrounded by a bright red area. They are benign (not cancer). Canker sores can run in families. They may also be linked to problems with the body's immune (defense) system. The sores may occur after a mouth injury due to dental work, aggressive tooth cleaning, or biting the tongue or cheek. Canker sores can be triggered by emotional stress, dietary deficiencies (especially iron, folic acid, or vitamin B-12), menstrual periods, hormonal changes, food allergies, and similar situations. They occur most commonly with viral infections. In some cases, the cause can not be identified. Treatment is usually not necessary. In most cases, the canker sores ...Read more

Even if we gave you a list of possibilities, you wouldn't know which type you had, why you have them and what to do about it. Therefore, it would be wise to see a local dentist for an accurate diagnosis, along with appropriate treatment if necessary or advice on prevention, if possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have mono, I have mouth sores in the back of my mouth and sides of my tongue, is there anything i can do to make it heal quicker?, water even hurts.
Non-prescription aid: If you are suffering from mono, your immune system is severely compromised. There are a host of bacterial or more likely, fungal infections potentially causing your mouth problems. See your dentist, who can prescribe an appropriate medication for the oral symptoms. You can also try an over-the-counter product, zilactin to ease your symptoms. Apply with a q-tip to the affected areas. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have had severe pain beginning with my right side radiating under breast.hurts to breathe or lift arm. ulcers in mouth and in corner of mouth, sores?
Depends: That all really depends on the type of sore. Sores can occur for a variety of reasons, trauma, viral infection, autoimmune response, bacterial infection, chronic irritation, and so on. My best guess is that you are referring to canker sores. These are usually caused by reaction to some type of food or stress. They are autoimmune reactions and sometimes are severe enough to require meds. ...Read more

My favorite:: Mix together equal amounts of milk of magnesia or kaopectate and benadryl (diphenhydramine). Milk of magnesia and kaopectate both contain ingredients that coat wet tissues, such as those in the mouth. Benylin and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) contain ingredients that act as mild topical anesthetics and antihistamines (which reduce inflammation). Dab it on your canker sores with a q-tip. Don't swallow it. ...Read more
