Tested hiv( - )after 1.8 yrs of the first and 7 months of the latest exposure. Smoker for 1.8 yrs . having white patches inside mouth? Hiv or smoking

Stop smoking, man: Please do whatever you can to break your slavery to this terrible addiction. Ask your dentist whether the white lesions need to be biopsied. You also need to stop talking and fretting about thinking you have HIV. With your history and testing, you don't. If this is an obsessive thought, ask your physician for a referral to someone who can heal the mind -- you deserve to be happy. ...Read more

Can receiving blowjob with bleeding mouth transmit hiv?

Yes: Oral sex in general is less risky than some other forms of sex like unprotected anal sex. However there is a risk of HIV transmission and bleeding gums or mouth sores does increase the risk. It is important to use condoms and get tested regularly for HIV if you have had any exposures - even ones you think are low risk. It is better to know your status. ...Read more

I had some symptoms like lymph nods or a kind of herpes on my mouth , my HIV test was negativ after more than 6 month of the risk but I am afraid?

HIV negative: Without knowing exactly what tests were run it is difficult to say for certain, but the overwhelming chance is that you are HIV negative. The lesson is obvious. Fixed catheter and tore glove urine hit little bit of finger then wiped my mouth can HIV transmit?

Not at all likely: If the urine was from an HIV positive patient there might be a low virus level in the urine. Even if a few virus particles were transferred to your mouth there would be almost no chance of contracting hiv. Thankfully, the disease is not that easy to transmit. ...Read more

Hi is there a risk if finger with three day old cut is in contact with mouth saliva hiv positive person ?

Hi is there a risk if finger with three day old cut is in contact with mouth saliva hiv positive person ?

No risk, no worry: HIV is rarely if ever transmitted by saliva -- in fact, saliva kills HIV. That's why kissing never transmits the virus, and even oral sex is zero risk or close to it. Certainly saliva contact with skin, even with healing cuts, is zero risk for all practical purposes. Don't worry about it. ...Read more

I have a cavities.. Im kissing open mouth to HIV person.. I don't know she have a gum or disease.. I want to know its risk?

Low risk: There haven't been documented cases of HIV transmission by kissing. There's little of the microbe in saliva and the patient's mucosal antibodies seem to prevent transmission as well. Hopefully she's also under treatment for her hiv, making her less infectious than she would be otherwise. The dental caries don't lead to the bloodstream in any case. ...Read more

HIV risk: while you can get HIV through oral passage, it is not a very likely way to get it unless you have an open cut or lesion in the mouth. So, get HIV tested. There are lots of causes of anemia and you need a workup to determine the cause. An HIV test can be done at the same time ...Read more

LO is 6m old & at the docs she was touching the bin where they put used needles. I then noticed she had blood on hands, face & mouth . Risk of HIV?

How strange: Please let that doctor or his /her office know this promptly. Bottom line is that there are other blood borne pathogens that can be spread when blood products are in the mouth. Was it the doctor or your infant who had the blood in mouth and on face and hands? How did a six month old come in contact with a bin of contaminated materials? ...Read more

I had a single small red/white bump on soft palate for a couple days and its gone. In HIV mouth sores, would there only be one or would it be more?

Dr. Meng Syn Dr. Syn
3 doctors agreed:

More than one likely: There are more than one type or mouth sores usually related to hiv. Most have more to do with being immunosupressed- like candidiasis (ulcers caused by yeast infections), cold and herpetic ulcers as well as leukoplakia ("hairy tounge"). The onset of a single small lesion that has healed is not an indicator that you have contracted hiv. If you are still fearful, the best remedy is testing. ...Read more

Suspicious sore?: Regardless the cause... I would advise you to have the sore in your mouth examined by a dentist or dental specialist (e.g. oral surgeon, OFP). Any suspicious sore that does not resolve itself in 2-3 weeks should be evaluated. In the meantime, quit smoking. ...Read more
