Can my sons doctor prescribe something for pain for my two year old that has extreme strep, tylenol (acetaminophen) and motrin just are not even cutting it anymore :(?
Call your doctor: First, be sure you are giving the right dosage of the medications for your child's weight. Acetaminophen with Codeine is one option if otc cold medication is not helping. However if symptoms are worsening despite antibiotics or he is not able to swallow, you may need to have him seen again to be sure nothing more serious is going on that would warrant a different treatment regimen. ...Read more
None: Otc Motrin (ibuprofen) and prescribed Motrin have the same molecule and action. Prescription medication can be in a higher dose per pill but you can take more otc meds to equal that. Always be mindful of the ability of these drugs to cause excess stomach acidity and ulcers especially in the elderly. You may need an acidic blocker for your stomach. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have a clogged swimmers ear how do I get rid of it i used two drops and one is a pain reliever and one is an antiobotic i used motrin and Advil (ibuprofen)
Baby motrin or baby tylenol (acetaminophen)? From a doctors standpoint, is one more effective than the other and does one have a higher risk? 6mo teething baby.
Both are good: Tylenol (acetaminophen) has fewer reported complications so may be a bit 'safer' but Motrin is going to be more effective in reducing a fever. For a non-fever minor pain situation like teething, i'd use tylenol (acetaminophen) first but if that doesn't help Motrin would be most likely fine assuming you are carefully observing dosing recommendations. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

A lot faster with Rx: Unless there are other inciting risks to inflammation in your stomach (like h.Pylori, tobacco, too liberal alcohol, Aspirin or other nsaid's, etc.) your gastropathy will likely heal within a few days. I have numb finger tips from playing guitar hero. How long till it wears off? Will motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen) help?
Worse stomach probs: Ibuprofen is in a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or nsaids. These work by inhibiting a class of compounds called prostaglandins, which are pro-inflammatory and are involved with producing pain after injury. However, prostaglandins also protect the stomach lining, and increase chances of gastritis and potentially peptic ulcer. Alcohol makes all this worse - bad combo! ...Read more
I take nadolol Klonopin (clonazepam) and I took Motrin yesterday my pcp prescribed me clarithromyxin today , are there any bad interactions with these 4?
Drug interaction .: If you use nadolol for the treatment of high blood pressure, talk to your doctor before using it together with motrin. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of nadolol in lowering your blood pressure, especially if you use ibuprofen frequently or regularly (for example, to treat arthritis or chronic pain). You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor. ...Read more
