Drug addiction: If your mother is currently recovering from knee surgery there may be a need for narcotics until she is fully recovered. Once recovered with the support she has in you she should be able to decrease the use of the narcotics and get better. The mothers IgG antibody to hep c that would indicate prior infection will persist up to 18 months in baby so a + test would not be specific for baby prior to 18 mo.
