My daughter has13 months with chd and she is 6 months post glenn shunt. Her birth weight was 3.6 kg and now she is 7.9kg. Iis it normal? What can I do?

It's a bit low.: This is a bit low for her age, but if she is gaining and following an upward curve, then i wouldn't worry too much about it. Please ask her cardiologist if he or she thinks she is growing well and, if not, to see if there is some reason (e.g., heart failure from av valve or neo-aortic valve leakage) for poor growth. Also, if it’s a problem, you can work with a nutritionist. ...Read more

Is it normal for baby to gain more than 1 kg per month with breastfeeding? Or To be above 6 kg for 2 month old baby, (birth weight 3670 gr)

Is it normal for baby to gain more than 1 kg per month with breastfeeding? Or To be above 6 kg for 2 month old baby, (birth weight 3670 gr)

Healthy wt gain.: Ideally, an infant should gain a minimum of 200 grms or about 7 oz a week, but weight gain more than that is common, especially with breast feeding but can also be seen with formula feeding. An infant with BW 3.67 kg would be expected to be more vigorous with feeding and you are providing ample nourishment. Weight gain will often slow down after 9 months, so current weight over 6 kg is ok. ...Read more
