No: These are two separate processes. Bad breath or halitosis is caused by mouth bacteria which don't have anything to do with the lower GI tract which is essentially separated from the "lower" GI tract by the acid within the stomach. For bad breath I recommend brushing your tongue daily and seeing your dentist. Read more

Not by smell alone: Infected tonsils smell. Bacteria between teeth that's not removed by floss smell. Bacteria on top and back of to get smell, as does infected adenoid, infected sinuses, food debris & bacteria rotting in gum pockets, gastric reflux, and so many other causes. I am having the problem of Bad breath. Whenever I sneeze in normal days also very bad odor comes with it which very irritating and embarrassing also?

Hygiene: Good oral hygiene, eat small meals check for large tonsils etc. May use some mouth wash or mints. But do not worry. Usually no specific cause is found. Eat small meals and keep wt under control. Read more

Are there any other symptoms that may suggest reflux such as heartburn, sore throat or belching? Chronic Halitosis may also be suggestive of an infection.
