Myoclonic jerks: Sounds like he had myoclonus, which, to me, raises question of whether his dementia is due to prion infection, Jakob-Creutzfeldt? Good chance!: Lorazepam can cause confusion which can cause agitation and sleeplessness (even though it is normally sedating). A good thing to stop using by a lot of people! But it has to be tapered slowly and carefully if a person has been on it for a long time or withdrawal can cause confusion, agitation, sleeplessness and seizures! Only when bathing?: I'm not aware of anything medical to explain why anyone, regardless of age, would become confused only when taking a hot bath, assuming that they don't become confused using more tepid water or when not bathing. My guess is that there's an underlying condition, perhaps dementia, that's exacerbated by misunderstanding or fear of bathing. Try a bird bath instead. You know, sponge bath. Or shower. ...Read more
