Every morning upper chest discomfort (stiff/heavy) when I get up. Or sitting up after lying down. Relieved when I move around. No other symptoms.

C/p on waking: May be GERD/ reflux /gastritis. Would elevate head of bed by putting pillow under mattress, consider ranitidine or prevecid for a month and see if makes a difference . Triggers are alcohol caffeine, energy drinks, smoking spicy foods. rarely may be pericarditis/cardiac due to autoimmune process, sarcoid ,but woud lbe short of breath, coud lcheck ESR ,CRP , EKG(more likely GERD) f/u/ w/ doc ...Read more

Albuterol: Everyone who has asthma should have albuterol or xopenex (levalbuterol) available to them at all times. If you feel tight, you should use it. Discuss with your doctor, but you can usually use up to three doses back to back to relieve your symptoms. If after three doses you are no better, you should go immediately to the emergency room. Hemoptysis: Hi LucasU702, hemoptysis is never normal or okay. A bronchoscopy may well be indicated. I would be concerned about a number of things from infectious to invasive. Without your travel history or living situation, considering your age TB, paragonamyacis, fungal, and bacterial infections would be high on the list. You need to see: Your doc. Depending on risk factors it could be cardiac. It could be reflux, it could be anxiety. Your young for a cardiac issue but that is what we must consider it until proven otherwise. Use a daily Aspirin until u get in and use some Prilosec otc in case it's reflux.
