The serum: Elimination half time of cipro (ciprofloxacin) is about 4 hours in patients with normal renal function, which means half of the absorbed dose is eliminated every 4 hours. Within 24 hours, it is essentially eliminated from the body. ...Read more

Prednisone (Definition)

Prednisone is a synthetic cortisone. The body makes cortisone, a natural hormone made in adrenal glands. The body converts it to Hydrocortisone to become active. 25 mg of cortisone has about same effect as 5 mgm prednisone. The average person would produce 3-6 mg of pred daily. So why use a substitute? The synthetic has more anti-inflammatory effect; but has less effect ...Read more

Sometimes: Diarrhea has many causes. If your doctor has determined that you need antibiotics to treat your particular case, you should take medication as prescribed. If you are concerned about c-diff call your doc. All antibiotics put you at risk for c. I have been diagnosed with Diverticulitis. How do I stop the diarrhea? Currently taking Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Flagyl.

I have been diagnosed with Diverticulitis. How do I stop the diarrhea? Currently taking Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Flagyl.

Be careful!!!: Diarrhea usually IS NOT part of the symptom complex of diverticulitis. How was your case diagnosed? Did you have a CT scan. And even if you did colitis, which is just a general term for inflamed colon, can look like diverticulitis but it would more commonly cause diarrhea. If diarrhea started after taking antibiotics you could have C diff colitis which requires stool culture and can be serious ...Read more

I was prescribed Adco-amoxyclav, Betamox 500mg and Prednisone 5. Can I finish one of these and then the other one once I'm done. I'm struggling with Diarrhea with all of them together.

I was prescribed Adco-amoxyclav, Betamox 500mg and Prednisone 5. Can I finish one of these and then the other one once I'm done. I'm struggling with Diarrhea with all of them together.

Call your doctor: Both the Adco-amoxyclav and the Betamox contain amoxicillin. I am not sure why you are on both at the same time, unless there was a need to increase your dose of amoxicillin above the amount in the adco-amoxyclav. Call your prescriber to find out what you can do to alleviate the diarrhea. Taking them separately for a longer period of time will not likely help. ...Read more

What does it mean when you have bloody diarrhea? I think is a side effect from prednisone, what should I do?

See a doctor: A gastrointestinal bleed caused by steroid induced ulcers should not cause overt blood or bloody diarrhea unless the bleeding is major. Bloody diarrhea can occur from infections in the intestines such as e. Coli, shigella, salmonella, amebiasis and others. Some of these are more frequent or severe with the immunosuppressive qualities of steroids. ...Read more

I'm traveling in thailand and have had diarrhea for a few days (no other symptoms). Diphen/atropine not working. Should I take cipro (ciprofloxacin) or zithromax?

Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Traveler's diarrhea is very common in the first few days of travel to a new location. Taking Cipro (ciprofloxacin) at the first sign of diarrheal symptoms is an easy way to stave off a prolonged course of diarrhea. Zithromax will not do you much good in this case. ...Read more

I have a question. My son just had an appendectomy. He was prescribed oral cipro (ciprofloxacin) and flagyl. Now he is having runny diarrhea. Can he take immodium?

Probably: This should at least slow down the stooling and will not interfere with the other meds. I would put in a call to the treatment team to keep them up to date on his condition. They may want to re-check him sooner. ...Read more

Just started cipro (ciprofloxacin) for UTI (3rd since april) 1st dose last night 10pm. Today vomiting nausea and forceful diarrhea. Could it be cipro (ciprofloxacin)?

Recurrent UTI's: A more important question you need to ask is: why am I having recurrent uti's? You need to see a urologist to make sure you do not have an anatomical defect in your urinary system causing your uti's to develop. If there is such a problem, resolution of it may prevent future ones. What does the doctor who is giving you Cipro (ciprofloxacin) say about your recurrent uti's? ...Read more

I had a shot of prednisone tues & 1 pill weds, also took a procardia (nifedipine) weds. Which of these is causing my neasea vomiting & diarrhea. What will help me?

Side effect: The Prednisone is more likely to be associated with the nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. You don't mention why you had the drug, the process you received the drug to treat could be involved also. Then there is the possibility of yet something else..... From here in the zephyr world one can't but provide a minimalistic probability and not knowing cause, treatment is problematic. ...Read more
