Mono Dj Bag
Ebv IgM 1.3 IgG 1.5 ea 0.2 na 0.2. Dr states acute/new infection but i was told i had mono as a teen?
Interesting: When the igm is positive it indicates acute new infection. Did you have a blood test as a teen that proves you had mono or was it a clinical (based on symptoms) diagnosis. My best suggestion is to see a chinese medicine practitioner. I have repeated success with chinese medicine clearing this up and helping your body recover. ...Read more

Son (7) had tonsillectomy on tuesday now low grade temp (~100 with tylenol (acetaminophen) 3 q4h) and wet mucusy cough. Is this ok? He's not drinking or "eating" much
Encourage activity: A fever after surgery is frequently atelectasis, a wrinkle in the lung from not taking deep breaths. Get him up and around. Plain tylenol (acetaminophen) every 4 hours frequently works better at this age than tylenol (acetaminophen)# 3. Use Ibuprofen if your surgeon says it's ok. Push fluids 20 minutes after pain meds. Dehydration causes more problems than most anything else after tonsillectomy. Don't worry about not eating. ...Read more
My child 11.5yr F catch cold in morn.Had fever101at nun gvn paracetamol.Had 102 in eve gvn para with antibotc. Now at nght had 104Med gvn.can we sponge?
OK to sponge: with lukewarm water. If water is too cool, it may cause shivering, which is counterproductive. Fever of 104 is not harmful and is the body's way of fighting infection, but concern is for dehydration, so be sure to push fluids. Occ. ibuprofen works better for fever, and that could be used instead of the paracetamol/Tylenol. Your child may have a virus and antibiotics won't help then. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

15 month old ate a 1/4-1/2" piece of a plasticfork tip 3 daysago.Wasokuntil yesterday afternoon. Lastnite was up screamingtons. Could it be from that?
Dought it: Most kids that age quietly pass such a small object in their poo in 3-4 days with no issues. If the kid will not eat or drink and or settle to your consoling efforts, an urgent eval could sort it out. If the kids tummy is soft and s/he is quiet and playful between fussy periods, it is likely something minor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Mono in infants: Mono in infancy is usually no more involved than a minor flu. Sundowning 92 yo w/ little sleep x 2d in hospital. Refusing to take 500mg keflex 'horsepill'. Has klebsiella. Can i mix contents with ice cream?
Had open inguinal surgery with ethicon prolene mesh, on first day got fever which peaked 101f but came to 99 but taking panadol (acetaminophen) 500 mg x3, is this ok?
Fever: The fever is concerning, ok to use tylenol (acetaminophen). Your team will monitor you for infection/seroma/hematoma. Continue to take your temperature daily and record it for your doc/surgeon. Call your surgeon if your fever recurs (above 102). Make sure you go to your post operative appointment and bring your temperature recordings. The mesh is standard for this operation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Woke up drenched - changed, opened window and slept under a sheet (w t & boxers). It got down to 60F outside. Woke up cold (not shivering). Dangerous?
No, not unless...: It's not dangerous to wake up sweaty, if due to sleeping in a hot room. It's not dangerous to sleep with the windows open unless one lives in a dangerous neighborhood. Whether one uses one sheet or two, or boxers or briefs, is not dangerous. It's not dangerous to wake up cold, if sleeping in a cold room. But, if the room is fine, and one gets chills and sweats, there may be an illness going on. ...Read more

Upper UTI: You need to be seen and thoroughly evaluated by a urologist, perhaps in concert with an infectious diseases expert. This can be a dangerous and even life-threatening condition if not managed properly and existing predisposing factors like kidney stones removed. Do not delay seeing someone. Hope this is helpful. ...Read more
4 days ago handled sickbird w/eye infect. wore gloves, washed. now have flu sym. ear sinus throat, low grade fvr. coincidence? BTW cat ate bird
Most Likely Not: If you wore gloves and washed your hands after touching bird, this is probably just a coincidence. However, if this does not seem to be resolving in a "normal fashion", lasting much longer than a viral infection, I would get it checked. Cat is OK. Disgusting, but OK! :-) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
