I have been using the generic brand of the Monistat 7 and have not felt any relief and it is going to be day 5 I'm using tonight what should I do?
Wrong diagnosis?: Monistat only works for yeast infection and so if you have bacterial vainitis (bv) or something else such as an std (trichomonas, chlamydia etc.), Monistat will not work. There should not be much of a difference between brand vs generic besides the preservatives-active ingredient =same. So, I would suggesting seeing doc for eval/treatment. Good luck. ...Read more

Possibly: I'm not completely familiar with these products, but I assume Monistat 7 is used for 7 days and Monistat 3 is used for 3 days. I don't know if the quantity of each dose is the same for both or if the strength of the active ingredient is the same. Won't help: Most skin abscesses (boils) are not caused by yeast, the only thing treated by Monistat. No antibiotic cream will help. Depending on exact location (e.g. if this is a Barthoin cyst) it could be an STD like gonorrhea. Whatever the cause, it may require lancing and/or an oral antibotic, especially if large, especially tender, etc. Best to see a doctor for professional evaluation and treatment. ...Read more
