Gyne-lotrimin and vagistat (tioconazole) are also available and are safe as well. It takes 5to7Days: It takes anywhere from 7 days to take full affect. If not start feeling better in couple of days. Then it is better to see your Doctor or Gynecologist as it may be resitant to monistat or it is something else
Even though the resistance to Miconazole which is in Monistat is less common but still possible.

Obgyn visit: Sounds like it may be time to see and Obgyn and let them test the discharge to determine if a yeast infection is present or something else. Then the proper treatment can be prescribed. Yes IF:: 1, Be certain this IS a yeast infection. Bacterial vaginosis & some STD's can imitate yeast & fool you. Looking at discharge under microscope by provider helps OR doing DNA tests (sometimes called Affirm)

Cool Water: Best thing is to just soak his penis in cool water and the stinging will go away. Monistat will not harm his penis and in fact, might help treat the yeast infection you probably shared ;) ...Read more

It's safe, but...: If your symptoms suggest yeast (vaginal itching, etc; usually not much discharge, no odor), then OK to try Monistat or similar products. You'll definitely need to get care if it doesn't work. Yeast symptoms and vaginal discharge often are due to STDs and other potentially serious problems, so don't take chances. Safe: Fluconozole is generally considered safe to use during breastfeeding. I would ask your OB/GYN or Family Doctor to make sure they agree with that before taking the medication (did the prescribing doctor realize you were breastfeeding?). Monistat is also safe. ...Read more
