Mole grew back 6 weeks after shave. Report compound melanocytic nevus architectural disorder moderate cytologic atypia. What's this mean, melanoma ?
Large brown lesion on breast. Checked 3 times by dr in 6 years. Atypical, has small black dot. Told dysplastic nevis. Is it likely invasive melanoma?
Small black mole, rough, 1/4 inch high appeared overnight. Unique. I exfoliated it off, all that is left is bleeding red pinpoint. Skin cancer?
ABCDEs of Melanoma: The abcdes of melanoma are:a=asymmetry(one half unlike the other half), b=border (irregular, scalloped, poorly defined border), c=color (varied from one are to another), d=diameter (while melanomas are usually greater than 6mm they can be smaller when diagnosed), e=evolving(change in size, shape, color).Hope this helped :]. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Biopsy shows spitz nevus cells under another type of benign mole. Melenoma can't be ruled out yet. Can melanoma grow under a benign mole?
Yes: In fact, this is fairly common. No one knows where spitz nevus leaves off and a melanoma capable of metastasizing begins. This is one of the hardest calls in pathology, and some say it's impossible. The burning question will be whether to do additional surgery. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Could be: It could be, particularly if it is asymmetrical in its color distribution, has irregular border, has color variation, and a diameter larger than a pencil eraser. Get it checked out if it concerns you; a good dermatologist can suggest if this really needs to be biopsied or removed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Shave biopsy on mole. Derm used dermatoscope & said it was scratched. Biopsy not atypical w/ inflammation. Doc wanted 3 more slides to 2x check. Why?
Not sure: When you say "doc wanted 3 more slides to 2x check" I am not sure what you mean. Did you mean the doctor wanted to do another procedure on you to "confirm" the diagnosis? Or did he want the pathologist to take more sections from the same specimen? Sometimes "inflamed" moles can look pretty worrisome and the pathologist will take more samples from the whole specimen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had mole shaved and it was benign. Has grown back in 3 months. Can melanoma grow under a benign mole?
Yes but not usual: When a mole (or nevus) is shaved, frequently the depth of the shave is not deep enough to remove all of the melanin or pigment producing cells. This is why the lesion grows back. If instead, a full thickness excision is done, all of the involved skin is removed and the lesion will not re-grow. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
F 30, new flat black mole on my leg, 1.5 mm diameter. Can it be an advanced stage melanoma?Derm said it is brown with black dots in center,to remove it
Start with biopsy: Any new skin lesion should be brought to the attention of your friendly dermatologist. The first step in skin cancer diagnosis is performed with a skin biopsy. If the dermatologist recommends a biopsy, I would have it taken off and allow for a pathologist to make the diagnosis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Mole accidentaly scraped off no pigment in scar dr said can't biopsy exact site of mole not clear (large scar) how would u know if there is melanoma?
Biopsy: Biopsy of site is gold standard of diagnosing or ruling out most pathology. For pigmented lesions a personal and family history is important as well as a complete examination including lymph node drainage areas. Some pigmented lesions can lose color and that also is an indication for biopsy. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Husband seeing Emory for possible subungal melanoma. Derm has watched white spot turn black over 2 yrs. Chances of this being contained? Stats?
Had spitz nevi removed due togrowing rapidly. Biopsy required deeper excision. Now long mole has grown on top of scar n several smaller moles around.
Vacationed in arkansas, came home w/ 64 pink+ red raised bumps w/ bite puncture inside. None on exposed skin, mostly groin+stomach. What bit me?
Bed bugs?: Since you were vacationing and they were not on exposed skin it is possible that these are bed bug marks. Without seeing the bumps it is difficult to say what they may be. ...Read more
