I've had a mole for about two yrs which is very different to all the others, asymmetrical nearly black and scalloped edges. Is it ok as it hasn't grow?

Have it checked: I highly recommend that you see a dermatologist. Although it hasn't been changing, it does have the markers that we recommend you watch for, which are the potential signs for a malignant melanoma. So, I recommend that you see a dermatologist in the near future (ideally within the next 1-2 weeks) to have it evaluated. ...Read more

How long does it take for a cancerous mole to spread? When i touch it and its red around the edge. Do you think it's cancerous?

It takes time: Cancer often remains localized for a finite period of time. The whole process takes weeks to months to evolve. So there is ample time to get yourself checked and verify if it is anything that needs a biopsy or not. Many skin conditions are labeled as moles but they may not be melanoma precursors or moles, that can become a melanoma. You should go see a dermatologist when in doubt. ...Read more

On my lower back I have a dark red kind of purplish mole with uneven edges that appears and disappears from time to time, could it be bad?

Sounds vascular: It sounds like it is some form of blood-vessel related growth, like an angioma or hemangioma, rather than a typical "mole". How large is it? Is it raised? How long have you had it? Without a photo, it's hard to tell by your description - see a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis. ...Read more

I have an irregular looking mole with jagged edges along with a hard enlarged lymph node adjacent to it which has been present for months. Related?

Skin malignancy ?: Irregular borders, color variation and non healing lesions all signs of potential melanoma or other skin carcinoma. Node is worrisome as well, if not painful unlikely it is related to infection so seek care with dermatologist or your primary. What you are interpreting as a lymph node could be inclusion cyst so need evaluation. ...Read more

I've developed a freckle or mole on the side edge of my nipple. Should i be concerned?

Learn your ABCD's: Probably isn't but could be a melanoma...Melanomas are screened by the abcd's: a-asymmetry; b-irregular borders; c-different colors; d-diameber >6mm (size of pencil eraser). If you notice a mole with these characteristics, get it checked out asap. If it is growing, ulcerating, bleeding, or otherwise changing, get it seen soon for evaluation and possible biopsy.
