Doctor insights on:
Probably, but why?: I think you mean miconazole 3 combo pack. (If you use a dictation speech recognition system, like Siri, you need to read what comes out!) It probably wouldn't hurt to use along with gonorrhea treatment, but it might not be wise. What you think are yeast symptoms might be from the gonorrhea and you may not need the miconazole. Check with the doctor or clinic treating you for gonorrhea. ...Read more
Avg BP used to be 140/93 changed diet for 1 mo and BP dropped to avg of 128/88. Cardio wants to explore medication. Can diet and lifestyle lower more?
I'm htnsive/dyslipidemic under meds and pci stenting 6 mo. Back and I have impaired glucose tolorence. Do I need medication for sugar?
Good question.: Generally I would say yes since you have known coronary artery disease and other risk factors. It would of course depend on how bad the ifg / igt is. It is easy to check a hemoglobin a1c. If it were een slightly elevated I would probably start you on metformin 500 to 1000 mg/day and see how well you tolerate. If no downside I would continue. ...Read more

My 30 mo old has a terrible cold congestion runny nose and fever is there an OTC medication that is safe to give him?
I'm 30, mom of 15 mo. Was on prenatal during pregnancy. I don't take any vitamins or medications. Feel lack of energy. What vitamins should I take?
Prenatal: If you are breast feeding you should keep taking your prenatal vitamins, you are giving a lot of nourishment to your child. You should also get checked to make sure you aren't anemic, sometimes that can cause fatigue. You should for sure take omega fatty acids. If you are still breast feeding don't use fish oil, best bet is actually chia seeds, they are high in omegas, and also proteins. ...Read more

Side-effects similar: But some people react differently to each statin was your switch for Lipitor (atorvastatin) 40 to Crestor 40, or 20mg. Or were you at the highest dose of Lipitor (atorvastatin) (80mg)? If so, only cestror 40 is more potent. Lipitor (atorvastatin) has gone generic and may have a price advantage. Discusss with your prescribing doctor. A CPK is warranted. ...Read more

Fibromylagia is a chronic pain syndrome and may respond to Gabapentin (neurontin). It can be dosed 100mg at night initially then increased up to 600-800mg 3x/day.
Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. Elavil) have been used for chronic pain also. I have treated 'trigger points' with injections with success or used topical Lidocaine (lidoderm patch). Do not forget about alternatives: accupuncture, etc. ...Read more

I am 37 weeks pregnant. I took a home drug test for THC and test positive. What does the state of mo do if I give birth and my baby and I are positive?
I agree: I understand your concerns about legal action. Your child will continue to smoke mj when you do & get even more through breast milk. He'll be far more " stoned" than you because of his size, which will harmfully impact his development. He'll have high risk of accidental injury or death if you parent while "stoned." if you disclose & seek help, you & your baby will both benefit. ...Read more

Doc may be right: I can not fully answer your question without knowing which chemotherapy drugs have been used (we have 5-6 good drugs for ovarian cancer). But once the cancer becomes resistant to all drugs then life is short...Usually a matter of months than years. But you can get a second opinion from another oncologist if you want to be absolutely certain. ...Read more
I take an injectible, serostim (human growth hormone) for cachexia, before I have taken the drug for 24 mo. Prior, can I expect similar results from this dosing schedule?
Maybe, maybe not: The same person, taking the same dose of hormone as in the past, after a break of some months, should be able to get similar effects if he is really the same person. . . Meaning that he has not changed much in disease status or severity, body weight, lab test results, dietary habits, exercise habits, other meds, etc... Otherwise, he may have more or less response to the same old medication. ...Read more

My 7 mo won' t eat from a spoon. I've even tried spoonning formula. I've tried diff foods, diff spoons, diff chairs, diff times of day. What to do?
Don't worry: Give your baby foods he or she can eat with his hands. Most will get on the face and surrounding area, but some will get in. Keep offering foods by spoon and sooner or later your baby will be more interested in eating than in refusing to be fed. Don't start power struggles over food. It's not worth it and there's no health reason to do so at this point. Great book: http://amzn. To/nsklr1. ...Read more
