What do these results mean... Urine Culture, Routine (LC). .. Mixed Urogenital Flora 10, 000-25, 000 colony forming units per ML?

Urine Culture: You have "normal" bacteria which are not though to cause a disease (like a UTI) that grew from the culture. We have bacteria all over our body including the urological and genital areas that normally grow there. If you disagree and feel like you have a UTI, you can get the test repeated or look for other causes. ...Read more

Leukocytes in urine. Urine culture mixed urogenital flora 10, 000-25, 000. Frequent urination. Did not respond to antibiotic. What does this mean?

Mixed flora: Hi Ashley. If you have "mixed flora" in the urine - even with leukocytes (or white cells) - it may mean that the specimen was not a "clean catch" specimen. There are other signs in the test to help determine this. If an urinary tract infection (UTI) is still a consideration, a repeat urine test and culture could be considered. ...Read more

Urine culture said I had 3 or more colony's that had >10, 000cfu/ml mixture of normal urogenital microbiota none prominent. What does this mean?

Contamination: Sounds like this was most likely due to contamination of the urine sample (not a clean catch). The bacteria that grew were normal bacteria that live on the skin in and around the urethra rather than pathogenic bacteria that would cause a urinary tract infection. If you are having symptoms of a urinary tract infection (painful urination, increased urgency or frequency) follow up with your dr. ...Read more
