Back, pain treatment: Major back problems needing surgery sometimes leave pain, even when the surgery went well. You need a pain management doc to evaluate if this is a compression vs nerve related problem.,treatments can include medication, bracing, injections, heating nerves to stop their pain, and over riding nerve pain with direct electrical stimulation -- spinal stimulation therapy. ...Read more
All solid zirconium that support span of 4 unit bridge covering teeth 11 to 14 broke after 10 weeks. Previous porc bridge also broken. Causes/options?
Dynamic forces: Many factors can lead to this, but most important are the support base and the bite. This is a long span to cover when starting with the canine, but do not expect the zirconium to fx. Likely clenching/grinding without occlusal guard/compliance . See the expert in reconstruction - Prosthodontist. Consider 2 crowns and 2 implants (12,13) with crowns and bite correction (lower arch). good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
X-ray results showed- advanced L5-S1 degenerative disc disease, moderate facet in lower lumbar spine, L5-S1 4mm retrolistnesis and moderate sclerosis ?
Worn down: L5-S1 is the lowest motion segment in the spine. The MRI shows that level has become "worn down" leading to degeneration of the disc and the facet joints, sclerosis, and a slight slippage (retro listless) of one vertebrae on the other. Don't hesitate to be seen. Many good treatment options available. ...Read more
L3-l5 no disk disease, minor degenerative facet change, no impingement. L5-s1 no disk disease, bilateral degenerative facet change no impingement. Mean?
Back pain: You are describing low back arthritis in terms of an MRI of the lumbar spine. Low back pain can be generated from degenerated or torn discs, nerve impingement from herniated discs, and inflammed or degenerated joints (facet) that connect one segment of the spine with an adjacent segment. Reducing or eliminating low back pain involves physical therapy, injections, and possibly surgery. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Electrophoresis : albumine 49 ( normal 56-66%). Gamma 24 ( normal 11-19). Ves 24 ( normal < 15), CRP 5 ( normal 0-0, 5). Is it all fault of obesity?
Probably more: This low an Albumin with what i will assume at your age is a polyclonal gammopathy makes me concerned about serious systemic disease or severe liver disease. Your obesity may have given you non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or you may have something else badly wrong. If your personal physician is not able to diagnose / explain, please ask for a consultation. ...Read more
Can a pinched nerve of the L4, L5, S1, or S2 (racepinephrine) cause difficulty passing stool, i.e., rectum/sphincter won't relax/function properly?
?cauda equina syndr.: If you possess a large ruptured disk in the lower back which compresses multiple nerve roots, or if you have lumbar stenosis, this could affect both bowel and bladder, but a localized pinched nerve at the root level otherwise will have not influence on bowel dysfnctn. ...Read more
Thoughts about dental bridge made of Zirconium. Any issues cons /pros please. My 4 unit bridge (#11 -14) made of Porcelain/PFM broke off 2 times. ?
Etiology: Must determine reason for failure. Did ceramic break or did bridge come off teeth ? #11 - 14 is a long span if only supported by those 2 teeth. #11 does double duty as it is a corner transition tooth and gets loaded in many directions. Overloading the bite and insufficient tooth to support this are most common causes. See a Prosthodontist for opinion. Consider 2 implants #12,13. Good Luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Male 55 healthy/active prostate cancer, scheduled for rp, psa 6.5 biopsies 6of8 pos 2aggessive, gleason 7. Are there other options to consider other than surg. Ct and bone scan clear. ?
Yes but: Alternatives are external beam radiation and radiation seeds (brachytherapy). At your age, conservative (watching) isn't advised. All of the therapies can cause urinary incontinence and e.D. - with surgery, they get better over time for most. With radiation, they get worse over time. Surgery is the time honored best of a bad situation. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

I've had 4 ekgs, 2 stress, 6 holters, mri, cat 4 echos. Are these enough test see if structrallu normal? What could be causing multifocal pvcs?
Too many: I hope that all these tests were not ordered by the same physician, at least not within a short time. The repeated tests you list, if all normal, are more than enough to definitively exclude structural heart disease. "multifocal pvcs", in-and-of-themselves, are not life - threatening. They need treatment only if they cause troubling symptoms, or if there is underlying heart disease. See an ep doc. ...Read more
Xray: Both Hips AP, Frogleg. Results: Sclerotic lines both femoral heads. Symptoms: pain/clicking sound/limited range movement. Do i need new hip?
Unlikely: Doesn't sound like arthritis of significance, more likely may represent some degree of hip impingement. Slight bony prominence on femoral head, slightly excessive overhang of anterior hip socket or both. These bony abnormalities can lead to labral tearing and ultimately arthritis if left unchecked. Diagnosis requires additional xrays/MRI.Labral tears can be repaired and excess bone resected. ...Read more

Results: Hep C quant. : 2,802,680
HCV log10: 6.448. Reflex to genotype was unable to determine genotype even though there was sufficient HCV RNA?
Hepatitis C virus: Sometimes it's not possible to determine the genotype of this virus, which thus makes the expected response to treatment more uncertain. This is a 'slippery virus' -there are 11 major genotypes (designated 1-11), and many subtypes (a, b, c, etc.) A hepatologist (GI subspecialist) or an ID doctor who works with Hep C patients can help you. You'll need an established relationship for treatment... ...Read more
Mri- c5-6 there is apparent central bony bar abutting the ventral cervical cord. What does this mean?
May mean nothing : The bar is a bone spur. Caused by disc degeneration at that level. It is a common finding and may not mean anything clinically. The important question is whether or not there is actual spinal cord compression. Per your question, it sounds as if the spinal canal is narrowed a bit (stenosis), but there is not any spinal cord compression. Frequently, pt and traction can be of benefit. ...Read more
