What are the tests that should be done after the first miscarriage?

None: Usually a miscarriage is caused by a random genetic problem in the developing baby and there is nothing that could have been done to prevent it. Most women who have had a miscarriage go on to have a successful pregnancy. Recurrent miscarriages may warrant further work up that would be outlined by the physician. Emotional support for both parents is important after the loss. ...Read more

Had positive tests but now I've had a big bleed along with quite a big clot. Guessing I could of miscarried?

Possible: Bleeding after a positive pregnancy test is never normal. Miscarriage is one possibility but you can not be certain without an evaluation. Tubal (ectopic) pregnancy is another and can be life threatening. Schedule a visit to get checked out. ...Read more

Several miscarriages in the past with tests results concluding a fluke now i had 2 periods in one month, is this normal?

Several miscarriages in the past with tests results concluding a fluke now i had 2 periods in one month, is this normal?

Likely normal: A cycle length (from the first day of one period to the first day of the next period) of 21 to 35 days is considered normal. Since calendar months are 30-31 days, it is common to have your period on a different calendar day each month. So if you started a period on january 3rd, you could easily get a second period on january 24th, and that would be normal. Cycles less than 21 days aren't normal. ...Read more

My sister is 25 years old she miscarried twice suddenly all tests are fine but her antithrombin percent is 66% is it the cause?

Miscarriage: I'm assuming you are talking about an Antithrombin 3 level. It sounds like she is being evaluated for lupus or lupus like conditions, which can lead to more poor pregnancy outcomes. She probably needs to have her provider go over the entire work up with her to see if anything is concerning. ...Read more

Had 1st c-sec 7 wks ago. I read online many women have miscarriages after their c-sections why does that happen now I'm worried for future miscariges

Miscarriages happen: Many pregnancies miscarry (it's a normal part of life). Many women miscarry before their C-sections, and many women miscarry after their C-sections... which means miscarrying is not related to C-sections. If a woman has repeated miscarriages, her Ob-Gyn doctor can help find out if she has a disorder that makes her more likely than normal, to have miscarriages. ...Read more

Getting low risk results on a panorama test does it decrease chances of miscarriage?

Getting low risk results on a panorama test does it decrease chances of miscarriage?

No: I don't believe the panorama test decreases your risk of miscarriage. If the result comes back as low risk it just decreases the risk of having a baby with the genetic abnormalities tested. There are several other causes of miscarriage that have nothing to do with genetic testing. ...Read more

I was taking Zoloft (sertraline) when i had 3 miscarriages could this have been the cause? All tests were fine.

Yes, it is possible.: According to a study published in a canadian study of more than 5, 000 women, there was an association between taking antidepressants, particularly the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssris) such as paxil, (paroxetine) prozac, and zoloft, and an increased risk for miscarriage. But researchers caution that this association does not imply a cause-and-effect relationship. ...Read more

Its now 6 months after miscarriage, What test should we carry out b4 trying again? To avoid repetition 3rd time

What tests can i have done at the doctors to see if im infertile? been trying for 2 and half years with no luck. can miscarriages cause infertility

You ARE "infertile": However, "subfertile" would be a better term probably. And yes, there are a number of tests that should be done to evaluate your fertility, but you must also have your physician ask you questions and examine you to help determine the cause for not becoming pregnant. ...Read more

I miscarried on 6/16 2014. I went to the dr. On 7/30- negative blood test. 8/7 negative home test. 8/16 & 8/17 positive test. How far I could I be?

I miscarried on 6/16 2014. I went to the dr. On 7/30- negative blood test. 8/7 negative home test. 8/16 & 8/17 positive test. How far I could I be?

Hard to be accurate: A pregnancy test will usually turn positive somewhere around 4 weeks (2 weeks after conception). So you probably weren't 4 weeks on 8/7, but became 4 weeks sometime between 8/7 and 8/16. So you're likely around 4-5 weeks. An ultrasound at 6+ weeks will give you a better idea. ...Read more

Am 29 had 3 miscarriages between each one around a year no heat beat and baby stop at 6 weeks test shows subclinical hypothyrosim is this a reason?

Cant say for sure: Sub clinical means that you do not have overt symptoms. The body is an amazing and complex machine that responds to subtle changes in hormone levels. If you do not need medical treatment yet i would also consult with an acupuncturist /chinese medicine practitioner. I have had amazing results in patients with both thyroid and fertility issues with these modalities. ...Read more

Are my chances increased after three miscarriages? My ex husband n i had two . Doc did test on me n all came back normal. Curr. Preg n scared to death

Yes: 3 miscarriages qualifies as 'recurrent pregnancy loss' sometimes the miscarriages aren't due to you, but due to sperm as well. Chromosomal abnormalities have to be considered in both of you. You may want to see an infertility specialist to get some testing to see if that could be an issue (i.e. Balanced translocations, etc). Without knowing what tests were done, can't speak if had all workup. ...Read more

My pd 4 days late then light and short. negative prey tests. miscarriage in dec, same story didn't have positive test until was in er. is it the same?

Trust the test : A pregnancy test can detect a bhcg of about 20. Your bhcg roughly doubles every 48 hours. Let's say the first day you took it you were barely pregnant with a level of 19. 48 hours later your bhcg would be 38 which is way above the level for a urine pregnancy test to detect it. Home tests work really well and can be trusted. Repeat in a few days and if negative then you are not pregnant. ...Read more

I'm 23 year old. Got married last year had two miscarriages 1st miscarriage was 6 weeks 2nd miscarriage was 7.5 weeks Which type of tests you recommend me?

GYN MD visit: Head to your favorite GYN MD and make sure that you do not have an infection that hasn't been determined as of yet. The products of conception should also have been tested. Often an antibiotic is given prophylactically for such a purpose if all STD testing and other parameters are negative. Keep in mind that the number one cause of early miscarriage are genetic incompatibilities. ...Read more
