Low chance : Chance of pregnancy is less than 1 out of 100 each year with Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. Remember that periods are lighter and can be irregular with that iud. That being said, if you think you might be pregnant and especially if you have pregnancy symptoms check a pregnancy test. ...Read more

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Your risks of pregnancy are very small and the possibility of a medical problem is remote; your "neg pregnancy test" is and may remain the only reassurance you need. ...Read more

Common: It is very common that you don't have periods while using a Mirena (levonorgestrel) for birth control. They suggest that you can check the string on your cervix every month to make sure it is still in place. However, in practice, i don't think this advice is followed very often. ...Read more

If you are concerned about pregnancy, you can either take a home pregnancy test or go to your doctor for one just to put your mind at ease. I am getting a mirena IUD next week. Should i ask for xanax (alprazolam)? And how much ibuprofin should I take beforehand? I've never had kids and I am 20.

Pregnancy with IUD: Sounds like you both are not on the same page. I recommend that you see a marriage counselor to resolve this because no matter what happens one of you will resent the other (more). Pregnancy can happen after 5 years but sometimes the presence of the IUD, no matter how old, can prevent pregnancy. If she were to conceive, IUD removal can cause a miscarriage. ...Read more
