Do not take any more: You have taken too much too often. This should not be taken more than once a day. Your side effects are due to this being taken too close to your previous dose. You should stop taking it and see your Dr. soon, like tomorrow, or soon after, as you have taken this drug for a week already and he/she should be informed about this and this latest issue so you can be treated correctly. Best of luck. ...Read more

Consider evacuation: As a top down med it often takes 3-5 days for the MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) to work down to the end of the colon and soften stools. If the kid has enough of a plug at the lower end, a simple children's enema may loosen it enough to allow enough stool removal to stop the cramps.Otherwise you are stuck with a loosened upper colon and blocked lower.Sometimes a gastrografin enema in xray will clear the worst of these. ...Read more

As a once over-the-counter dosed laxative you may not see results for 3-4 days, but as a multi-dosed colonoscopy preparation (when used under doctor's advice) expect laxation within hours. As with any laxative however understand its mechanism of action, its risks, treatment goals. Also, make sure you are not missing obstructing. ...Read more

Sorry, but no...: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a lavage agent--the more you take the better the "clean out." Does MiraLax (polyethylene glycol) count as a laxative? If someone took MiraLax (polyethylene glycol) everyday, what would the side effects be? Could this cause permanent damage?

What's the concern?: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a generally safe, non-systemic lavage agent, intended to assist with laxation. Your voiced concern makes me question: for what symptoms has it been prescribed to you, what is the intended dose & duration of use, what have you tried before, what tests have been run prior to starting the product, what other symptoms do you have (weight loss, bleeding, pain), what's the underlying disease? ...Read more
