Sounds like your: Period. Why are you taking Miralax (polyethylene glycol)? Constipation in a 16 YO needs to be treated with more hydration, and higher soluble fiber (fruits, vegest) and less processed, or fried foods, sugary sweets, sodas. Talk to your pediatrician about doing more heart healthy exercise, and better nutrition to avoid having to use MIralax (polyethylene glycol) as a solution. Diet: If you have had a full work-up for your constipation, including lab tests. And you've reviewed any medications that might cause constipation, like blood pressure medications, then I would suggest you work on diet. Some people need a lot of fiber. Confusing?: Maybe you are confusing the cause (constipation=bloating, irregularity) with the effect of miralax, (polyethylene glycol) etc. Which gives easier, more regular bm's. Perhaps insufficient dosing, regular use rather than intermittent use, and other meds you might be on or other medical conditions are also a factor. Constipated for 3 wks. Took MiraLax & Colace 3 days, didn't help. I've had small, hard BMs but not much. Took mag citrate (300mL) & had diarrhea after. No formed stools. Bloating, abd. & low back pain, borbor. Could this be a partial bowel obstruction?
