Is kirkland minoxidil not safe for women?

Is kirkland minoxidil not safe for women?

Minoxidil for Women: While safe, over-the-counter women's topical Minoxidil is often tried with disappointing results because the traditional rogaine (minoxidil) or generic version can be messy, irritating to the skin and weak in terms of hair growth. Many patients find improved usability with compounded prescription formula 82m Minoxidil because it is stronger on the follicle and is easier to use (dries fast, less greasy, etc.).

Rogaine (minoxidil) for women: do u really have to use it 2x a day everyday to get any results? Can u use it 1x a day?

Probably: Rogaine (minoxidil) for women's use can have varied responses. For best response, probably use it twice a day, but once a day is likely better than not using it at all.

Are there side effects from using Rogaine (minoxidil) foam (womens)? Can you where a shower cap to bed so you don't get it anywhere on your face? Thank you

Hardly ever: Apply to scalp. Measured amount. No need for shower cap. A few people get local reaction, but I have never seen it. Helps some women keep more hair if used religiously twice a day for years. Generic 2% minoxidil is about as good as any other form and costs $4 a month.

Does rogaine (minoxidil) for women really work? I'm 19 and my hair is kind of growing slowly

Yes: Hair grows 1 cm per month. Nothing makes it grow faster. If you use Minoxidil religously twice a day for the next 60 years you will have a little more scalp hair than if you do not use it.

Does rogaine (minoxidil) really works on women hair loss?

Does rogaine (minoxidil) really works on women hair loss?

Depends: For hair loss in women....See your doctor. There is testing that needs to be done to determine the cause...Is it female pattern, hormonal, or even related to an underlying condition like thyroid disease or anemia. The treatments vary based on the cause. To answer your specific question though...Yes for certain types of hair loss rogaine (minoxidil) can help women.

Will rogaine (minoxidil) for men cause excessive facial hair growth on women?

Will rogaine (minoxidil) for men cause excessive facial hair growth on women?

No: Rogaine (minoxidil) only acts directly where it is applied. Men put it on their scalp in the front receding hairline area of in the back circle of hair loss. Women get more of a female pattern baldness when is overall equal hair loss from the entire scalp. You may use rogaine (minoxidil) for this, but be sure to wash your hands so you don't transfer it to areas where you don't want hair growth to be encouraged!

Is minoxidil safe for female? Is it true that it increases facial and body hair growth in female?

Is minoxidil safe for female? Is it true that it increases facial and body hair growth in female?

Lower strength: Minoxidil is safe in females but is used in the half strength of the male version of the Rogaine (minoxidil). However, hair growth in unwanted areas can still occur, even at the lower strength. You may have to stop application if unwanted hair growth occurs.

Can rogaine (minoxidil) be used for hair growth on scalp hair as well for women how is it used? Is it good for women?

Rogaine (minoxidil): For women and men, use rogaine (minoxidil) for men because it is 5% and is the strongest. Rogaine (minoxidil) is applied twice a day but one you start using rogaine (minoxidil) you will have to use it the rest of your life otherwise the hair will stop growing and will fall out.

Is there anything to take besides minoxidil for female hair loss?

Is there anything to take besides minoxidil for female hair loss?

Stronger Minoxidil: At the present time only topical Minoxidil is the only fda approved treament to deter female pattern hair loss in women. It comes in two strengths 2% & 5%. Even though the labeling on the 5% limits it to use by males, many dermatologists feel the 5% is appropriate in women as well.

Needs evaluation: There are many possible reason for hair loss. More than one cause can happen at one time, for example a woman may have hormonal abnormalities that may lead to an androgenetic hair loss but she may also have thyroid dysfunction which contributes to shedding, etc. You need a thorough physical, some blood work, a hair pull to see distribution of hair growth and possibly a scalp biopsy.

If I start rogaine, (minoxidil) do I need it forever? (50yo woman with parents with thin hair)

If I start rogaine, (minoxidil) do I need it forever? (50yo woman with parents with thin hair)

Define "forever.": If you stop using it, your hair will go back to the way it was before you started using it - but that doesn't mean you're stuck with it "forever." it means you need to keep using it until a better, more permanent hair loss treatment is invented. That could be next week or 10 years from now, but not "forever.".

Workup: There are a number of potential reasons for hair loss. Recommend a dermatological assessment to see if cause can be determined. That would allow for a specific targeted treatment plan. Take care.

I am a female, 24 yrs old with thin hair. Can I use minoxidil topical solution USP 5% chymotra to my scalp? Or it should be used only by men?

It's safe: Despite the labeling in the opinion of most derms it's safer and most effective, in fact the foam is likely the most effective for both men and women.

Can laser therapy help female-pattern alopecia? (crown, sides, and overall thinning) anything besides rogaine (minoxidil)? (child-bearing years)

Can laser therapy help female-pattern alopecia? (crown, sides, and overall thinning) anything besides rogaine (minoxidil)? (child-bearing years)

Female hairloss: See a dermatologist for a clear diagnosis as many conditions can mimic female pattern hair loss. You may need additional tests. Unfortunately oral meds are out for women. Topically the most cost effective is rogaine (minoxidil). Latisse might work as well but is cost prohibitive. New topicals are coming. Led lights and laser are not proven to be effective.
