Minocycline Stopped Working
Derm switched to ampicillin after minocycline stopped working. (antibiotic resistance) how's this compare to tetracycline? When will it start working?
Acne treatment: Minocycline and tetracycline belong to the same family of antibiotics so both share the same actions and bacterial resistance. Amoxicillin is more stable than Ampicillin and can be given 2x a day compared to 4x a day for ampicillin. As with any antibiotic for acne treatment, give Amoxicillin at least 2 - 4 weeks to effect a change in your acne.See 1 more doctor answer

Heads up: I see that you are actually taking both isotretinoin and some nerve medicine. During your time on antibiotics, were you also using a topical agent such as the Retin A you also list? Antibiotics will fail otherwise. All acne is manageable nowadays if you have continuity of care. Best wishes.See 1 more doctor answer
My skin is is leathery and bumpy from rosacea. I am on minocycline which has stopped working. Doxycycline didn't work. Also on finacea. Suggestions?
Dermatologist: Aestheticians can help with this. I assume you have seen a dermatologist.
Minocycline worked wonders for rosacea. It stopped working after 8months. Switched to doxy 2 months ago- useless. Can I go back to mino?
How long until Minocycline is completely out of my system. Took 50mg twice a week. Was on it for a week and stopped two days ago.
2-3 days: It's probably completely gone by now, for sure in another day or so.
I believe I am having an allegic reaction to Minocycline 50mg 2x daily. Can I get thru the itching on my own now that I stopped taking it Friday?
Minocycline (100 mg2xaday)left me w/ discolored lips. It's been a month since I've stopped & it still hasn't gone. Will it go? How can I resolve this?
Yes, it usually goes: Dark pigmentation from Minocycline normally clears but it can take months to years to do so. None of the cases I have seen failed to clear over time, and unfortunately there is nothing you can do to speed up the process.
I stopped taking Minocycline about 5 months but just began taking it again. I am wondering if I will experience another initial breakout period?
Hmmmm: I hope you don't. Hopefully, by going back on the minocycline, you will not experience that.
4 years ago I got minocycline induced hepatitis. My liver was failing but I stopped taking it and got better. Could it cause me to not feel well now?
YES: Avoid it completely. Also let your doctor know what happened in the past so any medications prescribed to you can be selected with caution
I've been taking 100mg minocycline for acne for a few years now and for the past few months it has not been working near as well. Other options?
Spironolactone: Acne in adult women is a hormone effect. Usually the hormones are normal (do you have normal menses?). It can be worse in response to progesterones used for birth control. It can be part of PCOS. Only about 10% of such women respond to antibiotics such as minocycline. Most of them love the result from the antiandrogen spironolactone, typically 100mg daily, result in 2-3 months. Safe onless pregnan
