Is taking humira (adalimumab) a common treatment for rheumatoid arthritis?

Is taking humira (adalimumab) a common treatment for rheumatoid arthritis?

Yes, but.....: Humira (adalimumab) is quite effective. It is also quite expensive. It should not be considered a first-line therapy, as drug companies want us to believe. Other first line dmards like plaquenyl, methotrexate, leflunomide, and sulfasalazine work quite well. I occasionally will give Humira (adalimumab) injections for several visits until other drugs kick in. ...Read more

Best Ayurveda treatment for osteoarthritis or juvenile arthritis knee treatment?

Not good.: If a child has an inflammatory knee condition, caused by jia, there are very effective treatments available with very high success rates, some used alone, and some in combinations. Anyone taking humira (adalimumab) for rheumatoid arthritis?

Many patients!: Results are very good, particulary when used alone and better with methotrexate. The dirrence with Remicade (infliximab) is that it binds to tnf-a rendering ineffecftive. Methotrexate vs humira (adalimumab), rheumatoid arthritis question?

Most, if not all, insurances require treatment failure with mtx before you start humira, (adalimumab) a much more expensive drug. In most cases, even if Humira (adalimumab) is started, patients will remain on mtx. ...Read more

Very effective.: But frequently unecessary in most of my RA patients. Combinations inclduing mtx with sulfasalazine, hydroxychlorquine, perhaps doxycycline, or Leflunomide should be tried before starting enbrel, (etanercept) unless you have overwhelming inflammatory disease.
