Minimal Voltage Criteria
Computer jargon: In patients over the age of 40 the amplitude of the QRS wave on the ECG measured in different sectons of the ECG has a high probability of accurately predicting abnormal thickening of the heart muscle, a condition common in people with longstanding high blood pressure. Under the age of 40 these criteria lose their predictive power and may or may not accurately predict this problem. Ie I bet all ok ...Read more

30 min 3X/week: Exercise is good for you, but in order to have a positive effect on yourself, the minimum is 30 minutes three times a week. Certainly 7 days a week would be better. There are published studies that have shown 30 minutes three times a week will have a positive effect on both morbidity, (sickness) and mortality, (death). This goes for cancer patients too. ...Read more
Can food elimination diets take longer than 3 weeks to uncover the problem? On one now with minimal improvements.
Depends on Condition: Depends on the condition you are attempting to treat. For diseases like eosinophilic esophagitis a typical elimination diet is followed for 6-8 weeks. For celiac disease when instituting a gluten-free diet most patients notice clinical improvement within 2 weeks, however we usually evaluate progress after 4-6 weeks. Hope that helps. ...Read more

Refuse to pay high deductible then get only minimal use for insurance. So I don't go anymore. Penny wise and pound foolish?
How old?: If you're young and healthy, it makes financial sense to have a high deductible plan. I wouldn't go to the doctor that much either. However, if you have any chronic illnesses - diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, or if you're going to be missing any of your normal screening exams (like colonoscopy or mammograms) - it's foolish to put off medical care. Not worth it. ...Read more
Minimal sinusitis: Hello. Great question. Minimal sinus disease to one may be significant to another! We need to all be on the same page. Minimal disease doesn't discard the patient's suffering with this disorder but it usually refers to the CT findings of your sinuses. This is usually minor thickening of the lining within the sinus cavity. ...Read more
Not worth risk: Sleeping is so vitally important for good health. It is when we recharge our battery and it enables us to thrive. Lack of good consistent sleep can not only be dangerous to our body (high blood pressure, depression, anxiety) but to others. A leading cause of fatal car accidents is falling asleep at the wheel. Your body is telling you that you need help. ...Read more
Confusing: Fullness in the mastoid is a symptom, and using the term mastoid cells is a radiological diagnosis. I am guessing that your doctor ordered mastoid x-rays and the radiologist identified minimal degree of fluid in the mastoid air cells. The mastoid bone behind your ear only gets involved if you have a middle ear infection (hearing loss). So we need more specific information on your complaint. ...Read more
Usually 8 hrs: You have an internal body clock that knows how much sleep you need. For most adults it is 8 hours. Studies show that the average adult gets 6-61/2 hrs at most and sleep deprivation is a problem and adds together. If you do not get enough sleep routinely over time studies show a definable relation to function in jobs and relationships. If not sleeping, seek help. ...Read more

Not exactly healthy: It would be a stretch to call pita chips "healthy." they are made primarily from wheat which is a high-glycemic food (raises blood sugar/insulin causing obesity/inflammation). While they're usually baked rather than fried, they're baked with oils that are not healthy to cook with such as canola oil. The healthiest foods are real foods, not processed, esp. Veggies, fruits, beans, nuts. See comment:. ...Read more
How much height can realistically increase after treating lordosis? I've read the increase is only minimal, but what is "minimal"?
Lordotic view shows minimal hazy infiltrates in the left apex. Consider minimal PTB of undetermined activity. Kindly explain it to me. Thank you?
Chest x-ray: The presence of the so-called hazy infiltrates in the the top of the left upper lobe has caused the radiologist reading the film to suggest that you may have tuberculosis. This is not the purview of a radiologist and their suggestion is only to make sure that the doctor ordering the film considers this in their diagnostic evaluation. Continue your work-up with your doctor. ...Read more

Why do some females grow taller even as late as 38-40? Would that be minimal growth like few cms or what would cause significant increase like 3 inchs
They do not!: They may be wearing very high heeled shoes. Human females stop their height growth at about 16 yrs or about 2 yrs after onset of menses. Rare cases of growth hormone secreting tumors occur but there would be other signs of dysfunctional growth - I.e. gnarly fingers, enlarged eyebrow bones, etc. Think of Boris Karloff's portrayal of Frankenstein's monster! ...Read more
