Can I use miralax (polyethylene glycol) with fish oil and flax seed oil capsules?

Miralax (polyethylene glycol) ; Fish Oil: There is no reason that you cannot use MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) and take fish oil ;/or flex seed oil capsules. Is docusate sodium or docusate calcium a better stool softener?

Depends: Since calcium tends to constipate, i'd tend to side with the sodium version. However, people with hypertension who are limiting their sodium intake should probably choose the calcium version. The docusate is the active component; so either version should work. Adding more fiber & fluids to your diet will help keep you regular, too. ...Read more

Unless you see black tarry stool or signs of red blood, I would not worry about it. Good luck. ...Read more

OK but...: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a strong bowel softener and therefore should be reserved for temporary use. Can your stools turn clay colored from daily use of miralax (polyethylene glycol) and probiotics?

Can your stools turn clay colored from daily use of miralax (polyethylene glycol) and probiotics?

They shouldn't: Stools get much of their natural color from bile that comes from the gall bladder to help digest fats. Clay colored stools mean there is a lack of bile in the stools. Since neither Miralax (polyethylene glycol) nor typical probiotics cause stools to lack bile, it is most likely a coincidence that one's stool turns clay-colored while using Miralax (polyethylene glycol) and probiotics. One still has to see her doctor to fine the cause. ...Read more
