Mineral Oil For Ear Pain
Coconut oil safe to use in ear daily for ear pressure? Pain/water behind eardrum currently on antibiotics but ear pressure remains.
Yes, safe but...: Yes, coconut oil is safe to use but unlikely to help this much. It does have some antimicrobial properties but ear pressure is most likely related to allergies & inflammation around the eustachian tube. Antibiotics may not help much either. Avoiding dairy & wheat may help as well as treating allergies. Consider homeopathy & seeing a cranial osteopath. ...Read more
Dr conf impacted wax causing ear/ jaw pain today and suggested 2-3 weeks of olive oil twice daily w/syringe considered if oil doesn't work. Is there anything more effective I can try or is oil best?
Hearing loss. Irrigation, olive oil & ear drops all failed. Any ideas doc? It's reoccurring, found out the other day I suffered /w bad ears as a baby.
See ENT: You most likely have a cerumen impaction (earwax build-up). Even though you tried some outpatient therapies for ear wax build-up it is still most likely. I would see ENT though so they can assess the cause of the hearing loss. If you don't have a cerumen impaction then there can be a more significant cause of your hearing loss. Not sure what "suffered with bad ears as a baby" means. ...Read more

Can I take 7 seas pure cod liver oil which states the relief of pains/stiffness(dont have) but also good for hair/skin which I'm taking it for?
Cod liver oil: although there's good evidence for cod liver oil decreasing triglyceride levels and possible evidence for some improvement in blood pressure and kidney disease in diabetics, there is no good evidence for an effect on the joints, skin, or hair. Also, it contains very high levels of vitamin D and vitamin K, and could result in overdosage of those vitamins. I would not recommend taking it daily. ...Read more
Can I use coconut oil for ear wax softener and blockage? I don't have olive oil so it ok to use coconut oil?
Should be fine: Coconut oil is safe to use and should help soften the wax. However, for loosening the wax and removing blockage, using hydrogen peroxide followed by flushing with water is recommended. See http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/ear-wax-removal-home-remedy.html#h2o2 for a discussion of using hydrogen peroxide to remove ear wax. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
