Milk Or Food Is Best Before Bed
Waking every 3 hours needing to eat (milk or yogurt). Am i not eating enough during the day? What can I eat before bed that will last longer?
Not necessarily: I am not aware of any scientific reasons behind drinking milk before going to bed. In general drinking any liquids before going to bed may make you have to get up in the middle of the night to urinate which would disrupt your sleep. So i usually don't recommend drinking any liquids up to two hours before going to bed so you get enough sleep and don't have any disruption. ...Read more
Comfort food?: There are chemicals in your brain which respond to food, smell, habit and touch. Rituals can calm you and prepare you for sleep. Milk enhances sleep through the tryptophan pathways, and can be helpful for many people. If you take your Ibuprofen at night, milk is helpful to protect your stomach from irritation. Best wishes for good sleep. ...Read more
My 2yr old still has a bottle of milk to comfort her before bed. Shes tried to go without but it makes bedtime very difficult. Is 2 too old for bottle?
Yes,if sugar in it: The bottle itself is not as bad as what you put in it.Bottling leaves the feed in front of the mouth covering the teeth where the bacteria form an acid as they digest the sugar in the feed. This erodes the enamel and will destroy the teeth. If you put water in the bottle, the kid can have her comfort device without the decay. Over time she will toss it as boring.Offering a teddy bear might help. ...Read more
1yr old has thrown up 1 time before bed for past 2 nights.I do put her down w/ a bottle and she has started milk &stage 3 formula. Too full? Or sick?
Vomiting: I am unsure of the cause of the vomiting but babies should not be put to bed with a bottle. This often leads to bottle caries which causes bad decay to her teeth. She may have gastroesophagel reflux which may be worse when lying down. Give the bottle before bed and clean off her teeth. Follow up with her doctor. All the best. + Cals -/-> Wt Loss: Adding calories usually does not = weight loss. Depends on the entire day's worth of calories and how much skim milk. Still Dehydrated....: One of the problems with croup is poor oral intake with subsequent dehydration. Push more fluid to drink, every 2-3 hours until the infant starts to have 6-8 wet diapers/day. Use humidifier in the room. Room temp. Should be 70 f daytime, 68 f at night. Make sure, nose is not blocked. If so, use saline nasal spray and suck mucous with bulb syringe. Any further concern, check with the pediatrician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Avoiding bedwetting in 7year old. Likes to eat ceral with milk before bed. How long after that liquid intake should he use the toilet and then sleep?
Enuresis alarm: Enuresis can persist into young adulthood and is usually familial. It can be quite frustrating for affected people. First line prevention is avoiding liquids after 6 pm and voiding before bed. Enuresis alarms are devices that attach to the waistband and vibrate when the bladder contracts, and DDAVP is a medication (oral or nasal spray) which are other treatment options. I hope this helps! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I find that if I drink water before bed.it flushes my systems and I feel hungry. If I have milk I'm better and can sleep better. Am I nuts?
I usually drink a glass of milk or small cereal before bed. Is this causing acid reflux? If i don't eat before bed i can't sleep. Dairy helps the burn
Modify ritual: A few sips of milk might ease the discomfort, but taking in any food or volume of fluid before you lay down to sleep aggravates reflux. The lower esophageal sphincter (les) relaxes periodically as you sleep and anything being processed in your stomach and the acid within, can travel up into your mouth. This is a ritual you need to modify.A few Tums (calcium carbonate) at bedtime might help more. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a sticky discharge after I urinate. Not sexually active. I notice it only when I drink a glass of Chocolate Milk. before bed. What's up???
Not sure!: that is different! only chocolate milk? not regular? I am assuming this is a vaginal discharge. milk is mucogenic meaning it will tend to increase mucus production . if it itches and has whitish curd like stuff it may be yeast. It maybe the normal flora of the vagina are not in balance and probiotics may help or your doc can take a sample and see if there are any clues. hope this helps! ...Read more
