As far as your question goes, there is some evidence that increased sugar in the diet can cause yeast to flourish, so you may want to limit his sugar intake, plus it's not good to introduce too much sugar at such a young age. Large amounts of sugar in the diet is putting him at risk for diseases like obesity and diabetes.
