Occasionally : Occasionally bad diaper rash is caused by a yeast (candida). This can be treated with a prescription cream called nystatin. As far as your question goes, there is some evidence that increased sugar in the diet can cause yeast to flourish, so you may want to limit his sugar intake, plus it's not good to introduce too much sugar at such a young age. Large amounts of sugar in the diet is putting him at risk for diseases like obesity and diabetes. Also if your son is getting a rash after each bowel movement, then you should make sure you change him as soon as he goes, keeping him as clean and dry as possible will help.
