Mild Tetanus Neonatorum
I had stepped on pointed object 11 day back, no blood and wound was there , just a mild pain and i had tetvac 8 years back, am i at risk of tetanus?
Tetanus toxoid: If you received this you may have a systemic reaction to the vaccine in the form of low grade temp elevation, but would not simply assume this is related to the vaccine because the two things occurred in the same time period. They may be temporally but not causally related and if the symptoms persist would see a doctor. ...Read more
Clean it 1st!: First, clean the wound (mild soap and water) making sure you have removed all the dirt particles, apply a topical antibiotic agent (neosporin) and bandage. Check with your doctor as to when your last tetanus vaccine/booster was given. If it's been a while, your doctor may want you to get a booster and also put you on antibiotics if the wound is at significant risk of infection. Go see your doc! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Two days ago I was vaccinated for flu, shingles, and tetanus. Tonight & last night I experienced mild fever & body aches, but only in the evening.
Immune system: Three vaccines at one time are a significant stimulus to the immune system. That's exactly what you want - to train the immune system to fend off any attack from these germs. A little bit of fever and body ache could be expected. If symptoms are not improving now, or God forbid worsening, you'll need to let the doc who gave the shots know that. You could take some Tylenol in the meantime. ...Read more

You should be fine: This isn't a noted side effect of the vaccine and this is not how rabies announces itself. If this stays around for two weeks or more, and you can't relate it to anxiety / breathing pattern, a visit to your physician might be in order, including a metabolic profile (hypocalcemia can announce itself this way.) glad you got rabies prophylaxis. ...Read more

Prevent tetanus : It's unlikely u have tetanus a month after a contaminated injury. Most cases occur about a week or 10 days from the injury. Certain wounds are more likely than others to lead to tetanus-what's necessary is for the organisms to grow and produce toxin. Deep wounds, crush injuries, dirt contamination etc are risks. Would make sure your vaccines are up to date- tetanus is an awful disease. Hope u c MD ...Read more
