Mono: Spleen becomes: palpable when the size gets double. Most of the time doctors don't feel it- though enlarged. Ultrasound detects the enlargement, but not done routinely. Depends : U are on doxy which is not used for suspected streptococcal infection. However if ur symptoms are better then u may as well finish the course. If not , or getting worse u shd switch to amoxicillin. Most physicians wld not treat streptococcal type C and if symptoms were mild enough wld have treated u with gargles and Tylenol (acetaminophen). Continuing on both doxy and amoxicillin is not warranted. ...Read more

Yes: Some people have minimal symptoms with strep as adults & some actively carry it in their throat & never seem to get sick from it.
