A bleeding disorder is a condition in which a person has abnormalities in his blood clotting. He may take longer than usual to clot (stop bleeding), or he may clot a too easily and be at risk for getting spontaneous blood clots inside his veins.

Correction: I agree with dr. Ball's answer, but the inheritance pattern he described is autosomal dominant. Autosomal means you can get it from either parent; dominant means only one parent needs to give it to you for you to get it. The rare, severe type 3 VWD is recessive; both parents need to pass on an abnormal gene for one to get it. ...Read more
