Yesterday my boyfriend hit hid nose very hard on a glass door. Now it hurts when he moves it but he can breathe, but there was no blood, but its swelled.
1. Bend head down and hold a tissue under nose, if there is clear fluid then go to ER as may have damaged the bone that separates the nose from brain.
2. Run a finger over the nose, if there is one very tender spot it could be a fracture, go to urgent care because usually for nasal fractures people are on antibitoics 3. If above is negative, don't worry, ice 5 minutes 3 x a day /motrin ...Read more
It's easier to ingest/swallow than inhale the glass.
If you have inhaled it, you more likely will have persistent cough and spitting of blood.
Take some peptobismol and drink lots of water to coat the glass particles.
A chest xray may not show the inhaled glass.
If you have persistent choking, nausea, gagging, vomiting or spitting blood, go to the er for evaluation.
Hope you feel better! ...Read more
Examine you!: The er will look into your mouth and if they cannot see anything will have either a general surgeon or ear/nose/throat specialist come and use an 'endoscope' (flexible tube with a mocroscopic lense at the end) to allow them to visualize your throat. Glass is difficult to see and sometimes special radiographs may be needed to find it. ...Read more

Sharp LUQ pain upon deep breath or stretching. Pressing makes it better. S/P lower spine sx 1 month ago. Not constant?
Be due to GAS collected in the SPLENIC flexure (The TURN the colon takes in the left upper quadrant see diagram)...this often occurs in RUNNERS since any bowel gas "seeks" the highest level in the colon when you are upright) In runners it's often called a "stitch"

If you are training hard but can't keep up with peers, a physician might check your heart over, especially for valvular disease. ...Read more
Having pain in upper back when i breath in... Can you please tell me what might be wrong with me. Thank you!
I might have swallowed a small piece of glass (about 2mm length by 1.5mmwidth by 1mm thick). What should I do?
Nothing: A sharp object like a needle or chicken bone that gets stuck in the esophagus needs to be retrieve by endoscopy due to the risk of perforation of the esophagus. If the piece of glass was truly only 2 mm x 1.5 mm it's not likely to get lodged in the esophageal wall due to its tiny size. It should pass out of your body with your stool. Glass swallower : You should not worry. This is too small to cause blockage or bleeding. With an object that tiny, it is more risky to intervene to remove it.
