Used peri-operatively to produce sedation and retrograde amnesia (helps you forget pain). Because it has a short half-life (1.5 to 3 hours), it is often preferred over diazepam. Doubt meds will work: After 3 or 4 drugs, the chance of success is below 4-5% at best, and unless you have some metabolic imbalance, you should consider a more aggressive approach such as a vagal nerve stimulator or even a surgical procedure. No: The valium the day before will not have an affect provided you are not a daily user. Patients who require daily valium will have a bit of a resistance to midazolam, its not a huge deal the midazolam isn't the main part of your anesthesia. As far as narcotics these work together. it will not have a major effect and your anesthesiologist should be easily capable of caring for your needs. ...Read more

I don't like Versed: That is unfortunate that you can't get it anymore. I never like to use it b/c in my hands CH is a way better. Seems kids have paradoxical effect with Versed 20-30 of the time. I don't use Xanax (alprazolam). Hope that helps ...Read more

Not for long term: This won't work in the long term. You need good therapy, and a long term medication that does not involve benzodiazepines-- such as ssris. ...Read more
