More than SI joint: Your new symptoms are classic for a nerve in your low back being compressed. I would suggest treatment for same. MRI might confirm the cause but bottom line the nerve needs to be uncompressed. Hopefully you can find help for same. You have a form of sciatica and the numbness implies more serious nerve compression. Most likely the L5 nerve root. Some Relief is appropriate to seek soon. Read more

Upper Leg Pain (Definition)

Before answering this question, it would be better to define what exactly is meant by the term "upper leg". Orthopaedic surgeons (and others) typically use the term "thigh" to mean the area between the hip and the knee. They use the term "leg" to mean the area between the knee and the ankle. Thus, it is important to specify whether we are discussing pain just below the hip or ...Read more

I have a nodule at mid lateral region of my thigh. Pain on palpation. Tender after stand and walk a lot. What is it?

Could be bad: Nodules or masses that are tender need to be evaluated by a physician. I assume the nodule is new and a new tender nodule will at the minimum need close follow up and at the maximum perhaps imaging or excisional biopsy. Read more

Can a mid-thigh stump be permanently numbed?

Can a mid-thigh stump be permanently numbed?

No: The stump may be experiencing a phantom limb pain. It is not plausible to numb it permanently but possibly if you see a pain management anesthesiologist they can offer something to break the cycle. If you had intense pain in the limb pre amputation a circuit is created stimulating the brain to receive input from the lime even after it is gone. Read more

Weight loss: You can't spot reduce fat, so there is no way (besides surgical liposuction) to target specific areas for weight loss. The best option is a healthy diet and regular exercise to lose weight and as the pounds come off you'll notice a difference in those areas of concern. Read more

I have what I think is a boil in my mid thigh it's red and purple but has been sitting in the same place with no growth or came to ahead for a wile?

Depends on how long: It really depends on how long it has been there. It could be a boil (abscess) but that's usually painful and becomes red and hard then soft and may burst on its own. It could be a number of things. One would really need to look at it to say what it is. Go to an urgent care or your primary doc to get it checked out Read more

Possibilities: Proper diagnosis requires examination. Possibilities are swollen lymph nodes pressing on the nerve in the area, blood clot in a vein in the area, or a hernia. The pain could also be a referred pain from a nerve in the back being irritated or a hip problem. You need to go see your doctor and have the cause of your pain evaluated. Read more

Not clear: I am not able to see the picture but one consideration is dry skin. You need to moisturize this frequently as this will help most any rash. Another consideration is excema. See your doctor or dermatologist to check this out. Read more

Strap sprain: Your pain does sound like it comes from the back due to a disc or nerve, however it could also be from a strain of the strap muscles inside the leg that attach to the pubis (bony part of the pelvis in the front) and is referred to the back. I would definitely have it rechecked by your physician to see if a referral is necessary. Read more

I have severe pain in my mid to lower back, it feels like a bruise and hurts constant, also pains down my left thigh what could this be?

Need more evaluation: Commonest reason for pain radiating down legs is a 'pinched nerve' because of a displaced disc. This can happen in young people like you. You may need Xray, MRI or nerve conduction studies followed by either medication, physical therapy or nerve blocks. See a board certified pain physician or an orthopedic doctor Read more

Dull but shooting pain from butt into mid thigh; I had to sit in uncomfortable chairs for 5 hours today. Feels worse when stressed. Sciatic?

Butt/thigh pain: Certainly could be sciatic - the sciatic nerve runs from the mid buttock down into the leg see http://www. Mayoclinic. Org/diseases-conditions/sciatica/basics/definition/con-20026478. It can come from sitting on hard chairs. In my experience anti inflammatory medication can be helpful - naprosyn or ibuprofen. Warm heating pad may also be helpful. Good luck Read more

First I would-: -just cut down on the distance you walk. By modifying your activity & stoping be4 you have trouble, after a few weeks gradually increase the distance by small increments & see if it goes away. Always do stretching B4 you start 2 walk, & ice the area after your walk. Read more
