Went for a microscopic urinalysis results - mucus present and urine culture- organisms recovered in low numbers. What do these mean? Infection?

Unlikely: Urine screening tests also look for other markers of infection like nitrite and leukocyte enzymes. If those were negative and urine culture had low number of bacteria, it is not likely to be infection. ...Read more

Ua (Definition)

A ua is a urinalysis, or chemical and microscopic analysis of the urine. The standard urinalysis is performed with a dipstick test for ph, blood, protein, sugar, and ketones. In addition, a urinalysis usually includes a microscope examination to identify if the urine contains cells, "casts" (structures that indicate a problem originating in the kidney) or crystals (such as ...Read more

Would a microscopic urinalysis reveal significant renal proteinuria?

Would a microscopic urinalysis reveal significant renal proteinuria?

Here are some. ..: Formal urinalysis consists of 2 parts: chemical part is to qualify if blood, protein, pus cells, bilirubin, etc, are present, and microscopic part under microscope is to quantify the number of pus cells, red blood cells, casts, crystals, etc. All these findings need to be interpreted and correlated with clinical profile in the past and at present. So, ask Doc for the significance of the finding ti ...Read more

Is a urinalysis microscopic positive a drug test?

No: A urine microscopic test means the lab staff or machine looks at the urine sample with a microscope, to look for things in the urine, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, kidney cells, bladder cells, bacteria, yeast, other organisms, and various crystals. Maybe if there was a very unique type of crystal that was created by a unique drug, one could say that drug was seen in the urine. ...Read more

I have had 2 urinalysis with microscopic tests done in the ER, 6 months apart. The Epi, Ur has been high on both tests one at 7 one at 8 what's it mean?

Urinalysis: EPI cells in the urine refer to nephron or bladder epithelial cells that have been shed. The technician typically differentiates between squamous cells, which can appear in the urine from the vagina. Ur at 7 and Ur at 8 most likely refers to urine pH. There is no other number given on the U/A. Urine pH 8 is unusually high and indicates infection or high alkaline diet. Urine pH 7 is not unusual. ...Read more

Need clarification: We need a lot more information on the type of protein, on the cell count, Cass, and other substance seen in the urine. You need to have the urine repeated, best first thing in the morning when your hydration allows a concentrated urine. You also need some blood testing to clarify and possibly further analysis. Your physician may have to send you to a nephrologist. ...Read more

What is the definition or description of: urinalysis, complete w/microscopic?

Full evaluation: Urine analysis usually is a chemical evaluation of the composition of the urine. When "microscopic" is added, it means that a sediment (spun down portion of the urine) is examined for cells and crystals or other substances. You usually see this when there is an abnormality of the urinalysis by itself. ...Read more

What does urinalysis w/reflex to microscopic examination mean?

Urine test: Urinanalysis is test commonly done to check for infection, blood, sugar, ketones etc. The reflex microscopic portion is done automatically if the initial test shows any abnormality. For example, if there are signs of infection, then technicians will automatically look at the specimen under the microscope to see if there are any bacteria. This helps to decide on further testing and treatment. ...Read more
