Urine (Definition)

Urine is the product of the kidneys, which is produced to eliminate the waste products of metabolism, manage body fluid balance, &maintain acid-base balance. The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. It is composed of mostly water, and breakdown products from blood cells impart ...Read more

Please: Please reply with more information. The number you gave is not a ratio. It is very difficult to interpret what a random urine creatinine level means without knowing the microalbumin level and looking at the ratio. Lastly, whoever ordered this test should be able to explain why they ordered it and what the results mean. Please reply with more information or follow up with your doctor. Take care.

I understand that an elevated randome urine microalbumin/cratinine ratio of 129 may be a sign of kidney disease for a type 2 diabetic, but how bad is?

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it does put you at risk of kidney disease, nerve and eye damage and other microvacsular lesions. How bad depends on your creatinine, blood pressure and A1c levels.

Good or bad? CREATININE, URINE 292.9 (no ref range provided) However my MICROALBUMIN/CREATININE and MICROALBUMIN, was completely normal.

Microalbuminuria: As long as your microalbumin-to-creatinine ratio is normal (less than 30), then you're considered normal, at least no microalbuminuria. This is standard screening for those w/diabetes. ACE inhibitors & ARBs (blood pressure drugs) can lower risk of developing kidney failure. So can optimal sugar control (aiming for A1c less than 7). Other way to assess kidney function is eGFR calculated from creati

What affects microalbumin/creatinine level in urine: wine, sugar, etc.?

What affects microalbumin/creatinine level in urine: wine, sugar, etc.?

Does not add up: Creatinine is normally present in urine, microalbumin indicated glomerular leakage, sugar/glucose in urine mostly occurs in diabetes and wine is not present in the urine.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

Urine test on my 11 year old showed low creatinine (12.5), microalbumin (12.9), high ratio (103). Does this indicate microalbuminuria or not?

Urine test on my 11 year old showed low creatinine (12.5), microalbumin (12.9), high ratio (103). Does this indicate microalbuminuria or not?

Possibly: It does mean that in that particular urine sample, your child was excreting higher than normal levels of albumin. However, he would need to have his urine tested 2-3 more times in the next few months to confirm the diagnosis, as lots of things (such as exercise) can temporarily increase your excretion of albumin. It is important to follow up with your doctor.

Hello. My dad did blood and urine tests: the creatinine is 0.9mg/dl and the microalbumin is 586 mg/l. What are the causes for this high result? Thanks

Hello. My dad did blood and urine tests: the creatinine is 0.9mg/dl and the microalbumin is 586 mg/l. What are the causes for this high result? Thanks

Need evaluation: The creatinine level is normal; however, the amount of Albumin in urine is elevated and needs to be investigated. Diabetes is the commonest cause, but other kidney diseases can also result in loss of Albumin in the urine. It would good to talk to his doctor. See this site for more info on this subject. What are the creatinine spot and microalbumin urine tests for?

UACR: Urine albumin to creatine ratio is a spot urine test that measures how much protein (i.e. albumin) the kidneys are spilling into urine. Albumin (or protein) in the urine is a marker of chronic kidney disease. Normal UACR is

ACR test morning sample - 17mg/dl microalbumin urine, Creatinine is 0.6 in blood. No bp issue or sugar.

Normal: The albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) urine test is used to detect the presence of abnormal amount of protein (albumin) in the urine which is often an early sign of kidney disease and an important prognostic marker in pts with diabetes and hypertension and a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Your results (ACR 17 mg/dl and serum creatinine 0.6) are indicative or normal kidney function.

Urine protein randm: 11.7, urine creatinine randm: 304 high (ref 58-161), protein/creatinine ratio: 38.44. What does tht mean? Do I need more test?

Urine protein randm: 11.7, urine creatinine randm: 304 high (ref 58-161), protein/creatinine ratio: 38.44. What does tht mean? Do I need more test?

Proteinuria: You have proteinuria (p) and the first thing is to have a 24 hour urine collection to see the amount of protein in your urine and to assess your kidney function. Have a renal ultrasound to assess kidneys' size depending on the p, I would send off blood for aso, anca 2, complement c3 and c4, hiv, hepatitis b antibody to see if a cause could be found for the p, if not a kidney biopsy may be needed.

Protein Urine Random 35 Creatinine, Ur  143.0 Protein/Creat Ratio 0.2 mg. Commet Nephrotic ratio> 3.5 No standard values given. Kidneys ok??

Proteinuria: Protein/creatinine ratio of 0.2 is within the normal reference range. So, there is no significant increase in urine protein. I am concerned about hematuria and painful joints. Is hematuria repeatedly present? Is BP normal? Why swollen feet? What other testing has been done? Is ANA present? Have you had a recent infection? Is serum creatinine changing? Is urine albumin/creat ratio known?

Stopped going to old doc but just got labs back from 8mos ago. Random urine metanephrine/creatinine was. 5 mcg/mg crt. No ref range provided. Normal?

Call the lab: You should be able to call the lab to get the reference range. Interpretation of the results will not be done by the lab. If you get a new doctor, be sure to share the results with them. Hope this helps!

What does it mean when random urine creatinine is high?

This is normal: Creatinine is normally excreted in the urine. The concentration of creatinine by itself means nothing other than the kidneys are doing their job. Blood creatinine will tell you better how well the kidneys are working.
