Different treatment: But same results! Studies show that single dose treatment is often as effective as taking it for a week, but with better compliance (less likely to forget to take meds). Cipro &Metronidazole: Cipro and Metronidazole are a common combination of antibiotics and often are prescribed at the same time for various infections. There shouldn't be any major issues here. Please write back...: Sorry but I'm not clear as to your question. Regardless, metronidazole is typically prescribed at 3-4 times daily for several days for most infections. A large dose is prescribed to be taken just once to treat trichomoniasis in those w/good immune systems. Disulfiram reaction: Is the issue here. You will feel sick if you combine the two. While on Flagyl, do NOT drink alcohol. Not just because of the reaction, but also because Flagyl is metabolized by liver. After you stop taking med, don't drink for additional 3 days or so.
