Is it safe to take sport supplements such as jack3d or compound 20, while on prescription ritalin (methylphenidate) 20mg? If not ; why?
DANGER!!: I'm not familiar with compound 20, but jack3d contains significant caffeine and in combination with another stimulant (as Ritalin (methylphenidate) is) could make your heart rhythm go out of control, could cause panic attacks or could cause seizures. Never mix this with any other type of stimulant — you could cause a very serious heart or neurologic problem! Your body is a temple — don't fill it full of dynamite! ...Read more
Evidence sketchy: Tyrosine is the precurser for making Dopamine and norepinephrine, both thought to have a role in adhd. However, taking large amounts of it doesn't necessarily raise brain amounts of these substances enough to make a difference. Omega 3 is being used for many disorders, including adhd, and may help some but probably best as supplement to standard stimulants. ...Read more
I my country, I think no ADHD meds other than ritalin (methylphenidate) ir and concerta. What will i be able to do if this 2 forms of methylphinedate don't help me?
Both methylphenidate: Although both are methylphenidate, Concerta is a long acting form whereas Ritalin as you have written it is short acting. Two molecules: Ritalin, metadate, and Concerta are different delivery systems of the stimulant methylphenidate. They differ in onset, peak, and duration of action. It depends...: 18mg is the lowest strength Concerta made. It also comes in 27mg, 36mg & 54mg tabs. 72mg is also recognized as a "normal" dose. But no one dose fits all. My 10yo grandson went from 12.5 mg methylphenidate to 18 mg concerta. He appears to be more amped up with the concerta. Could the dose be too high?
Dosing issue: If he is amped up, he may be under dosed. Proper dosing usually hits a happy medium between the busy behavior off meds and a too quiet pattern if overdosed. Making a switch to a new med often requires some time and several tries. ...Read more

Concerta is a long-acting formulation, meaning you take the tablet and the drug are slowly released over 12 hours. The result is a longer duration of action, but lower peak levels of the drug. No: Concerta is methylphenidate, exactly the same molecule as ritalin. Concerta is formulated to be released into your bloodstream slowly so it lasts for 6 to 8 hours with a steady blood level, whereas Ritalin is absorbed rapidly and your blood level rises to a peak in about two hours and then declines, and is active for a total of about 4 hours. Same medication — same effects. ...Read more
