Methylcobalamin B12 Side Effects
Doctor prescribed me l-methylfolate methylcobalamin, pyridoxal-5-phosphate tablets cor-3, for what this medicine is and side effects of it.
Vitamins: We could say you just got VITAMIN-IZED! Not a bad thing. You are given folate, (folic acid) B12, & B6 in what could essentially be considered a medical supplement or medical food. It can be used for a variety of things but most often we see it used in cases of neuropathies caused by diabetes, etc. Side effects could be allergic, GI upset, diarrhea, skin reactions, or mostly nothing when taken as directed.
My doctor prescribed me methylcobalamin injections after every 2 weeks to counter some fatigue or energy side effects of prozac (fluoxetine). Is this any help?
Probably not: Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin b12. It is useful for treating vitamin B12 deficiency, which can cause fatigue symptoms. However, there are many other causes of fatigue and low energy, including depression (is that why you're taking prozac (fluoxetine)?). Prozac (fluoxetine) itself may cause fatigue and low energy, although it usually doesn't. Methylcobalamin probably won't help that.
Pernicious aenemia is it ok to take B12 5000mg methylcobalamin tablets in between B12 3mothly injections? Thanks
YES: B12 injections should be adequate but it is definitely ok to take tablets too- there is no known toxicity from too much b12. For best results your injections should also be methylcobalamin, next best hydroxycobalamin. Avoid cyanocobalamin- see http://www. Naturalnews. Com/032766_cyanocobalamin_vitamin_b-12.Html.
Forever: You can take it forever (you simply urinate out the excess) but most people don't need it.
Which form of B12 is best for shots/injections and why? 1. Cyannocobalamin 2. Methylcobalamin 3. Hydroxicobalamin
Usually Methyl but..: One thing is clear- Cyano is worst- it has small amounts of cyanide the body must detox & convert it to an active form; little is converted. Methyl is the active form, esp. Good for those with MTHFR mutations & neurological symptoms & best for most. Some do better with Hydroxo. Experts agree Hydroxo better than Cyano but haven't seen many comparisons of Met vs. Hydr. Methylcobalamin: Methylcobalamin is by far the best form of vitamin b12. This is the co-enzymated active form that our bodies use. When we take Cyanocobalamin our bodies must first convert it into methylcobalamin, so it is better to take the active form and save your body the trouble of making this conversion. See http://www. My B12 was 98 My doc gave me 10 methylcobalamin inj. And told me take one every month for 6 months and one every year. Can u tell why?
Cobalamin: Cyano c. is inactive form. Hydroxy c. is natural form. Methyl c. is an active form. Adenosyl c. is also an active form of c. but unlike the others, it is not available by injection.

I'm 19, female, and I need the right methylcobalamin injections dosage for low B12 = 128 with depression symptoms.
Seek out cause: At your age, pernicious anemia is unusual, and would wonder about an intestinal parasite causing lack of b-12 absorption. A quest for the etiology is of value, as some autoimmune disorders may cause havoc with other organ systems. Treatment is best given via, intramuscular injections provided at least once monthly, 1, 000 mcg each. Please consult a hematologist and psychiatrist.See 1 more doctor answer
B12 as methylcobalamin or B12 as cyanocobalamin - which one is safer/better and in what form : pills or sublingual?
No difference: 2 mg oral is supposed to be as good as sub lingual. I usually recommend 1.7 mg SL liquid every week for 2 months then once every 2 weeks thereafter. I recommend maintaining a level of 550 at all times. One should also check folate (folic acid) level and make sure that is OK. If anemic and you are replacing B12 its wise to check for low potassium as correction of the anemia can deplete K+ stores.See 1 more doctor answer
What are the differences between vitamin B12 methylcobalamin, cyanocobalamin, and methylcyanocobalamin?
See below: The body needs to methylate B-12 so it becomes biologically active to engage in chemical reactions, so the methylated forms are in that category, and the other would need chemical transformation to be active. Lately, there seem to be some concerns regarding safety and efficacy of the cyanocobalamin, but not a proven fact.
Why is methylcobalamin B12 (active form) not yet available as injections in the uk? Is it just the cost? Pernicious anaemia sufferer
Don't know but..: Meanwhile can use cyanocobalamin-effective as well.Get a more detailed answer ›
Normal Range B12 eg155 ng/L Range 130.00-800.00ng/L would be good idea to supplement with Methylcobalamin Tablets and diet to meet Mid Range level?
Depends: I agree that 155 is a low normal finding. What can be done to better corroborate any true deficiency would be homocysteine in serum & urine as well as serum methylmalonic acid. If those numbers are elevated then, the 155 likely represents a deficient state. In addition, are there clinical signs of deficiency? If you'd like a consult for more info: www. Healthtap. I read somewhere : B12 is stored as cyanocobalamin in our liver. If the above read is true, then why are we asked to take methylcobalamin form of b12?
Methylated B12: Is more bio-available, easier to absorb, than B 12.
What is the best form of taking B12 supplement cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin that you recommend to your patients and why. Thanks.
See below: Best efficacy and assurance of bodily incorporation occurs when injected once monthly. Some pts do well with sublingual prep, and some even absorb oral meds. Would urge you make certain that you do indeed suffer a vitamin b-12 deficiency prior to getting an aggressive solution.
Is there a B12 methylcobalamin supplement 1000 iu that can be swallowed as a pill. Is it ok to swallow a sublingual supplement with water?
B 12: You can purchase oral B 12 or swallow sublingual B 12 but you will not absorb as much as you can when taken in sublingual form. This is because the digestive process destroys much of the B 12 but when taken under the tongue it goes directly into the blood stream. Peace and good health.
