I'm immune to the hydromorphone actions, but not other opioids such as demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) (meperidine) or morphine?
Sounds confusing: In that hydromorphone is metabolized into morphine, and that is the effective agent in our bodies. There are people who may lack the enzymes to metabolize certain drugs, and this has been reported in some people with codeine, where the enzyme that metabolizes it to morphine is absent. It is possible you have something similar. Sometimes it is that you have not gotten the right dose by right route. ...Read more

Can you tell me what you suggest if a single nasal cocaine dose is snorted how long will the metabolites and cocaine be detectable in the urine?
1-2 days: One single "snort" of Cocaine is not likely to give urinary metabolites lasting more than 24 hours, 48 hours at most. The problem is that, like with potato chips, most people can't stop at one. If you have been playing with it, don't continue. It is dangerous, and the least of your problems may be whether someone finds out or not. ...Read more
Is it safe to take fluoxetine with Parkinson's medications such as sinemet and requip (ropinirole)?
Mild interaction: There is no severe interaction although if the fluoxetine were to be sedating to you then you may feel somewhat sedated. Additionally, the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors that include fluoxetine have been known to produce mild extrapyramidal effects through obscure mechanisms. This would translate into a potential for mild motoric phenomena that would be only a nuisance. Stay safe! ...Read more
Can an anti-epileptic drug such as keppra (levetiracetam) prevent seizures that happen from taking tramadol?
Perhaps.: In theory, the answer is yes. However, the vast majority of patients who do not already have a seizure disorder will never have seizures or seizure-like activity if they remain below 300mg/day of tramadol. If seizure-like activity is noted, the better choice is to eliminate tramadol, rather than minimize side effects with yet another medication. ...Read more

Generally, how potent is clonidine when compared to other hypertensive medications, such as beta blockers and ACE inhibitors? Or, is it so individual?
Hypertension: Current 1st line medication for hypertension or high blood pressure is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) like hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) unless you have a compelling reason eg diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, etc for something else. Clonidine is far down list. It works but all BP meds work. Down side of Clonidine is rebound hypertension if you forget to take dose. Some find it sedating. Potency depends upon dose. ...Read more
How does Gabapentin compare to Glutamate-blockers like Budipin, Lamictal, Remacemide and Memantime? Is gabapentin a weaker glutamate-blocker?
Not glut blocker: Gabapentin is used as both an anticonvulsant & chronic pain medication. It's mechanism of action is not entirely known. It was synthesized to mimic the chemical structure of the neurotransmitter GABA. It may also act through calcium channels. The other drugs drugs you mention are largely used in treating Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease. They would not seem comparable in use or action. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
