My friend wants to know is it ok to have anal sex during ectopic pregnancy treatment. Her levels are down to 2000 after 2nd dose of Methotrexate.

Most Unwise.: I dont know the specifics of how large her embryo is, but in general anything traumatic to the pelvis currently would be ill advised. If she can't have vaginal intercourse, I dont see why anal intercourse would be any differet. Should be ok: As long as where you are has nearby hospitals. Do bring a copy of your medical records, especially blood tests and ultrasound reports. By 5 days after a Methotrexate injection so people notice an increase in pain. Normal: It can be normal to feel a little pain, there could be some scar tissue there. I'm sorry you're going through this, but likely everything is okay. Should be tracked: After Methotrexate it is important that your BHCG levels be tracked all the way down to zero. Usually this is done weekly. This is done to make sure that Methotrexate worked to treat the ectopic pregnancy. Also since it has been 7 weeks are you sure that this is not a new pregnancy? It is possible that you are pregnant again. See an Obgyn for a BHCG blood test. ...Read more

Unlikely: The time it takes for 1/2 that medicine to leave your body is at the most 16 hours. Another half of the remainder in 16 and so on. By 3 weeks out there has been none in your system for some time. It can not effect the developing fetus if it is long gone. ...Read more
