Possibly: It sounds like your husband has graves disease. Taking tapazole (methimazole) controls the thyroid level but does not affect his eyes if the exophthalmos is due to graves disease. Prednisone can be helpful if there is a lot of inflammation associated with his eyes. This needs to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist with expertise in graves eye disease, typically a neuro-ophthalmologist. ...Read more

Can easy-bruising be a side effect of  either methimazole or propranolol?   Or both?   Or neither...

Possibly: Easy bruising suggests a problem with clotting which can be due to a variety of causes from decreased platelets to problems with the clotting pathway. Methimazole has a few less common but serious side effects which include a decrease in white blood cells (agranulocytosis) and blood platelets (thrombocytopenia). I would have this assessed by you doctor as soon as possible. ...Read more

Flu: Your Grave's should be under control and not affected by flu. That said, you should see your doctor about your flu and also get labs to confirm that your thyroid is under control. ...Read more
