Metformin tablets glycomet 250 mg is not effective. Can i take glycomet sr 0.5 or glycomet CP 0.5 ?.

Yes but . . . : How do you know your diabetes medication isn't working? Do you check your sugars w/glucometer? What/when was most recent a1c? How many glycomet are you taking? Try to focus on nutrition first rather than adding more drugs. Max dose of metformin is 2, 550mg/d. Talk to your doc about your options. And be sure your kidneys are ok. ...Read more

I take warfarin and thyrnxine and metformin tablets daily, what side effects could I expect?

None?: Thyroxine rightly used has no side effects. Metformin is generally well-tolerated but may make you feel strange; i'm told no 2 people have the same effects. Coumadin (warfarin) may make you bruise more easily and you should avoid tackle football, but if you bloodwork stays good, you will probably experience no side effects. Glad you're proactive about your health. ...Read more

Can one metformin tablets at night and 30 units of humlin insulin in the morning good for one, or can it cause diabetic coma?

Depends: Diabetic coma usually is due to prolonged markedly elevated blood sugar. Coma can also occur with too low a blood sugar often from too much insulin. Therefore if the patient takes too little or too much insulin, coma can ensue. Metformin alone will not drop the blood sugar too low however. Without knowing more facts the above dosage of medication can be right, too much or too little. ...Read more

Can a diabetic type 2 do a water fast for 11 days? If so, do they stop taking metformin tablets and blood pressure tablets for high blood pressure?

Can a diabetic type 2 do a water fast for 11 days? If so, do they stop taking metformin tablets and blood pressure tablets for high blood pressure?

Yes: If you are truly a type 2 diabetic and have never been ketosis prone, you can safely do a water fast. Since you'll have no caloric intake, you would most likely need to stop the metformin. It would be prudent to check your bs from time to time. If you're well hydrated, you may still need BP meds. Again, you would be prudent to check your bp. Buy this equipment b4 starting if you dont' have it. ...Read more
