None?: Thyroxine rightly used has no side effects. Metformin is generally well-tolerated but may make you feel strange; I'm told no 2 people have the same effects. Coumadin (warfarin) may make you bruise more easily and you should avoid tackle football, but if you bloodwork stays good, you will probably experience no side effects. Glad you're proactive about your health. ...Read more

I've noticed taking actos (pioglitazone) at the same time as metformin helps with some of the GI side effects. Is this a true benefit or am I just imagining it?
Glucovance (glyburide and metformin): Hi. Glucovance (glyburide and metformin) (metformin + glyburide combination) is not one of my preferred type 2 drugs. But it's inexpensive and will help for awhile before losing effective. Metformin side effects (assuming normal kidney function) are GI (things like nausea, diarrhea). Glyburide side effect is low but real risk of hypoglycemia. If you have decent insurance, there are better type 2 drugs out there. Good luck! ...Read more

Risk:benefit.: All medications have their risks and benefits. No medication is 100% safe with no risk. Invokana and Farxiga are both exciting new drugs in the SGLT2 category. Like metformin, in monotherapy, they can't cause hypoglycemia. Invokana can lead to a little more daily glucose excretion than Farxiga, and Invokana can be used with sl lower eGFR ...Read more
