Would cancer metastasis to neck lymph nodes likely show up in bloodwork such as a CBC?

Would cancer metastasis to neck lymph nodes likely show up in bloodwork such as a CBC?

CBC and cancer: Very few cancers show up in a CBC. A few such as leukemia commonly are seen in a CBC. A metastatic lesion to a neck lymph node would normally not be detected with this blood test. An FNA (fine needle aspiration) can be performed where a tiny needle is used to extract cells for a pathologists review. Speak with your doctor. ...Read more

Is it invasive lymph node metastasis is serious condition for breast cancer? Is it curable?

All forms: of breast cancer can be considered serious, but to answer your question, yes, breast cancer with lymph node involvement is potentially curable, but the probability depends on a number of factors. Survival rates are very high if the tumor is small and the lymph node involvement is minimal(stage 1B), and become worse with increasing tumor size, extent of node involvement, and distant metastases. ...Read more

Possible: Complicated question as there is not enough data - most breast CA recurs early, but not always. Usually dependent on hormone receptor status. I would be concerned about another cancer producing these nodules - could also be nothing.... ...Read more

Do breast tumors often metastasize to local lymph nodes?

Do breast tumors often metastasize to local lymph nodes?

Yes: App. 1 in 3 women diagnosed with breast cancer will have evidence of cancer spread to the lymph nodes in the armpit on the affected side. This indicates the high probability of cancer cells "elsewhere" in the body but does not mean that the cancer is incurable. This usually warrants the recommendation for chemotherapy to kill these "elsewheres"; thankfully, this is often successful. ...Read more
