Metamucil: Metamucil is essentially a fiber supplement to your diet, and it is safe to use it on a regular basis for the long-term. In fact, it is probably good for you to do so. Not a stool softener: Metamucil is not a softener per se. Rather it adds bulk and can retain (adsorb to be technically correct) fluid which may 'soften' the stool indirectly. Dx with divertic 4 weeks ago. Stool was diarrhea or round, long. Now they are wide & flat or round bumpy if on Metamucil thoughts? Have hemmerhoids too.

Depends on the med: Sedation in a 3yo is generally well tolerated when used in the basically healthy child. The term sedation has a variable meaning, with a bit of benedryl making some groggy to the gas anesthesia that puts them in deep sedation.
