Metabolic Specialists (Overview)

Metabolic specialists are physicians who have specialized knowledge regarding the body's process of breaking down food into simpler components. They diagnose and help treat various metabolic disorders, which may be inherited or acquired later in life. Such disorders may include diabetes, problems with fat metabolism (Gaucher's disease), and the inability to break down certain building blocks of protein (phenylketonuria).
